We parked behind the block looking to eat at one of the restaurants on the main street. We saw what appeared to be a pass through, but ended up being a door into this restaurant/bar. We were going to turn around, but it smelled delicious so we stayed Not a huge far of bar environments, because to don't drink. Our waiter was super friendly, he answered any question we had. We tried the lobster slider and shrimp dip on the small bites. Both were delicious, the lobster salad on the bun was creamy, but lacked something... Being slightly bland. The shrimp dip was excellent and had an element of heat to it. I got the firecracker sushi roll and because I am not a fan of avocado I asked if they could swap it out with cream cheese, which they did,. And it was fantastic, We followed dinner with a piece of cheesecake, which the server said was okay, but that the sauce was what made the dish and he was right. This turned out to be a great mistake. We have passed this place up in the past because of the bar but we will come here again.

My husband and I have been waiting forever for Fort Mill/Rock Hill to get an upscale sushi restaurant. We were SO pleased with Whitakers! The ambiance is hip and modern, perfect for date night or girls night out. While seating was limited, they do have a long bar area that is first-come-first-served, so we sat there. Service was on point, and the bartenders never let our glasses go empty. The cocktails were perfect- not too strong, not watered down. We ordered the Omakase Platter- chef’s selection of sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls so that we could get a sample of all the different types of fish. The picture speaks for itself in regards to how much we got, we definitely left full! The fish was fresh, melt in your mouth. We barely needed soy sauce or wasabi to doctor the flavors. This is definitely the best sushi in the area, just as good as some of the upscale Charlotte sushi places. Now we don’t have to brave the traffic to Charlotte to get our sushi fix!

If you have nothing else to do all afternoon, then this may be your place. Time between arriving and getting your food took us 2 hours! I could have gone fishing, caught the fish, and prepared the food in the same amount of time. We ordered only 4 sushi rolls. Let me say that again, only 4 rolls. Thr rolls themselves were decent. But it doesn't come close to making up for everything else. I don't blame the waiter for the time it took to get the food as they just put the order in. They keep our drinks full, at least until we got the food. Then we didn't see them it was time to pay. The atmosphere was terrible. Space inside is very tight. Seats aren't comfortable. Plus, they had a huge pile of dirty glasses on the bar table. We won't be going back.

EDIT: if I could leave another 1 star for service and management I would., So I ordered takeout tonight, drove through terrible weather waited the 25 min it told me & then get here for them to say they haven’t started it and “it’s busy it’s Friday” and I need to wait 30 more min. Nothing offered to me, just canceled and a refund.

I was so disappointed I went in to talk to manager and hesitantly she gave me a giftcard after I had to directly ask for something because I truly do want to give a chance to a highly rated place.

I can’t speak to the food or drinks because we never got a table. We were 4th on the list and told it wouldn’t be long. 2.5 hrs later after we finished a meal elsewhere, already home, and then we got a phone call our table was ready.

I understand that this just opened but we watched 20 parties after us get told it would be “1+ hr” when it was probably well over 3 hrs. There were only 5 tables in the whole restaurant. Sadly this was my Mother’s Day out date and we waited for over an hour to just walk away. I will update my review if we ever decide to give it...

At this time, I’m giving 3 stars. I was super excited to see a trendy place with unique sushi close to home. So I got 2 rolls to go. A crazy scallop and a Thai salmon roll.

Crazy scallop was pretty good- wouldn’t say it was my favorite sushi roll ever but it was good.

The Thai salmon was disgusting. I would never get that again. I don’t know what was going on with this roll. It was supposed to have crispy salmon on top. But it was like, dried out overly cooked salmon, in some weird watery sauce. It was sooo fishy and gross. The shrimp tempura inside was not good either. I could hardly even see shrimp inside the tempura. It was basically just tempura.

For sushi that is $15-$20 a roll, I seriously have higher expectations for portions of fish inside the roll.

I may try this place again, but overall I wasn’t overwhelmed with the sushi by any means. I’d like to try some of their apps though. If so go back, I’ll go in to dine and maybe get a servers recommendations because off my own choosing, that sushi roll wasn’t just bad, it was gross. I didn’t...
