If you want true authentic Mexican food this is the place. Everything is made fresh! Don't expect salty cheese covered entrees. Many people think American Mexican food is the same as true Mexican. Don't insult the owner by requesting something that you can get at Taco Bell. I ordered their infamous molcajetes with shrimp, chicken and beef and three melted cheeses. If you are looking for something cheesy, this is it! It comes out in a cast iron pot boiling hot, seasoned to perfection and beans, rice, avocado and flour or corn tortillas. They don't have a liquor license but sell wine Margaritas-I ordered one and it was good but would have tasted better with tequila. I also got the fried ice cream which was fantastic. It is handmade and savory. If you never had handmade ice cream don't expect it to taste extremely sugary. It lacks the high fructose corn syrup that commercial ice cream have, but still give it a try as it's nothing like real homemade ice cream. We went on Saturday evening and there was no other patrons. The owner was extremely nice and helpful in navigating us through the menu. His wife and son were the cooks, so this is truly a family owned and operated restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and clean. The portions are enough for two. The prices are affordable. Support...
Read moreService was not good at all. Although, the food was good and fresh! I have a severe allergy to milk and eggs, therefore, I could not eat the battered fish taco due to my allergens being present in the batter. With that said, I said to the woman taking my order 3 times that I wanted 3 shrimp tacos on corn tortillas. One of the times I stated my orders, the woman asked if I wanted 3 steak tacos since she misheard, to which I replied “no ma’am, I said 3 SHRIMP tacos”. I even told the woman taking my order that I had multiple allergies and to ensure that even the shrimp weren’t cooked in any butter and to remove any fixings that would have milk or egg in them. Other members of my party ordered shrimp tacos as well but in different variations.
I then received the order that two other people in my party had placed (2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco). Due to my allergy, I could not eat the fish taco even after saying multiple times that I wanted 3 shrimp tacos and not 2. I went back up to try to get it fixed (prior to even touching/eating the food) but the owner refused to replace my order. Was very standoffish and rude although the order was not a mistake of mine. Will not be...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but had to comment in this instance... I LOVE mexican food! I eat it daily both at home and in every new restaurant I come across. Spent my life in AZ, CO, NM so I know whats what. This place missed the mark entirely. It started with being seated and then left to sit without a drink order or chips/salsa. Once the chips did arrive, we got what you see in the photo below. The salsa tasted like water with little flavor and absolutely NO spice. I asked for their HOT salsa and was told "we don't offer anything else. We used to but no one ordered it so we stopped making it. We have tobasco"! I ordered the enchiladas and again was disappointed. The sauce tasted like mild ketchup. My wife ordered the very expensive smothered poblano and neither of us could stomach the sauce. She picked the inside out of the pepper and left the rest untouched. It had a chemical taste to it that I can't describe. The only noteworthy mention was the mojito drink, quite tasty. If you don't know mexican (ie. you're from Europe) you'll probably love this place. Otherwise,...
