NEW EDIT: We went last night(01-29-2019) to this one(on Old Greenwood). The service was SLOW!!! I usually am still eating chips when the food arrives, this time they refilled the chips and our drinks before our food was delivered. I took a couple bites and noticed a very black very coarse hair in my food. I would've settled for something different, but another person at our table also found hair in her food. At this point I was grossed out and decided once is a genuine mistake/accident, twice....at the same table.....is a result of the kitchen not being clean. Another person only ate one bite of their food and lost their appetite. Two people ate their food(it was salads and very easy to see if there was a foreign object in it....plus they were children who didn't get nauseated by the hairs). The 6th member of our group had already eaten half of his food by the time I found my hair(his was brought out first, mine next to last), and he quit eating when the 2nd hair was found.
MY ISSUE: When we finally got the waiter's attention, he acted like we were lying at first. I go out to eat a lot. I am not after a free meal. I tip VERY well. If 2 hairs are found in dishes at the SAME TABLE then I think that should be grounds for the table to be free. 2 people didn't eat at all because of hair(ordered the same thing) and one person took one bite because she ordered the same thing we did(three meals were the same), and the 4th person stopped eating when the 2nd hair was found. FULL plates of food went back to the kitchen. We ate nothing. OUR TICKET WAS STILL $42!!!!!!! That was insanity. $42 to NOT EAT! We did NOT have alcohol. We had cheese and guac, water and teas. This blows my mind. In 2018 I went to La Huerta's approximately 35 times(Thank you Google Maps for telling me that!!!). This will not be the case in 2019.
OLD REVIEW: PLEASE DISREGARD THIS PORTION. They did have 5 stars, I changed it to 1. One of my family's favorites! We go all the time and rarely have a bad experience. Service is...

Food- 10/10 Location 8/10 Atmosphere 9/10 Price 10/10 Service 10/10
These are extremely high marks for my scale. I absolutely loved the place. My drink glass never went empty, our appetizers were brought about 2 mins after ordering. Our order arrived 5 mins (or less) after that. The place is clean, efficient, warm and cozy, nicely placed within a shopping strip, beautiful safe area, the decor is authentic Mexican mixed with local sports attire/artifacts (as it is located right next to one of the main High Schools in the city). I at first thought... "How odd to have HS Sports articles on the walls at a Mexican restaurant. "... then quickly realized all the TV sets fixed to the walls playing sports and saw the bar at the other end. Wife ordered a cocktail. Super fast delivery to table and she was well libated. Remarked how tasty it was. Then the price! After appetizers, meals, sodas and tea, and a cocktail, our bill came out to right at 40$. You can't get McD's for 40!!! The wait staff was so professional. We had a few customized features to our meal, and to my initial chagrin, the waiter wrote NOTHING down. I thought, "Oh boy, here we go." Boy, was I wrong. Order came out perfect. He was so nice and attentive. He zipped through our area like he was part of a beautifully orchestrated chaotic, symphonic, and melodic ballet. He gave us a one man waltz clinic! We WILL be back.
As I always say during my reviews, "You get what you earn. Nothing more, nothing less."
Thank you for reading, and Safe...
Read moreWe ordered from the lunch menu during the specified lunch hours, but were charged an "upcharge" because it was the weekend, but they didn't inform us that there was a difference in prices until we questioned the bill. They also charged for a cheese sauce when the order came with cheese sauce or enchilada sauce, and the cheese sauce was chosen. It was not listed on the menu that there would be a price difference. So, my 6.95 lunch ended up costing $12! Further, they did not refill drinks or chips, not even checking back to see if we needed anything. We finally asked the waiter for a drink refill and chips. He was quite busy watching the soccer game, not waiting on customers. These people were financially deceptive, and in my opinion unethical, and then delivered terrible service. While the meal itself was fine, the service was horrible and the prices wrong. Lunch was $28 dollars instead of $17. I will never go back and do not recommend this...
