Dined here the week of January 7th, and this is my honest review:
The Good: The exterior and interior are very nice, warm, and welcoming. The décor is modern, and the bar area is quite nice; it does not feel cramped at all. All the staff were extremely kind and helpful, always smiling. The drink menu is impressive, decently priced, and the cocktails are delicious. The Kentucky Mule was great, offering a good portion for the price.
The Bad: Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the poutine appetizer. To me, poutine MUST have cheese curds to even be considered poutine. Having lived in Canada for over two years and tasted all types of poutine, their version, with a mornay sauce, didn't provide much flavor for the dish. The prime rib atop the french fries was great, but unfortunately, there were not enough green onions to make an impact on the dish. Overall, the poutine lacked seasoning, and I wish the fries were cooked longer.
The fried cod sandwich also lacked seasoning and flavor. It was strange that this fried cod was served on rye bread, which would have normally overpowered the taste of the fish, if there had been any to begin with. The tartar sauce was good, though, and necessary; otherwise, it would have been very dry. The fries served on the side also lacked salt, which was disappointing. The burger also lacked seasoning and flavor. I was going to order the croque madame until I read that it is served in a bread bowl, which is very odd.
Overall, I was disappointed, but I would be willing to give it another shot, mainly to try more of the cocktails. I am interested in trying the cornmeal-encrusted eggplant and the potato...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Greenline Restaurant, and I must say that the overall experience was exceptional. The atmosphere was inviting, the food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. However, there was one incident that tarnished an otherwise perfect evening. After enjoying my meal in my favorite servers section, I witnessed a bartender inappropriately yelling her. It was disheartening to see such behavior, especially considering the outstanding service I had received from Lizza on previous visits. Despite this unfortunate incident, I must commend the server for maintaining professionalism and delivering an exceptional experience.
On a positive note, I want to highlight the servers enthusiasm and passion for promoting the burger and brews. She went above and beyond to recommend the perfect pairing of burgers and craft beers, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to my dining experience. Her knowledge and dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction were truly impressive.
Overall, Greenline Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with delectable food and attentive service. While the incident with the bartender was regrettable, I believe it was an isolated occurrence and should not overshadow the exceptional service provided by the server. I look forward to returning to Greenline Restaurant in the future and hope that any issues regarding staff interactions are addressed for the betterment of the...
Read moreThe jury is still out for me on Green Line, and I'd like to try it again. As we were taken to our table, a woman at the bar found a hair in her salmon entree. You could read it on her face, and she was holding it up. She also confirmed it for me when I asked. Surprisingly (really), I went ahead and ate here. Look, the food wasn't awful or anything, but it wasn't exceptional either. I'm not sure if GL wants to be a pub or fine dining. My pasta puttanesca was okay, but the shrimp were on the small side and bland. The pasta was delicious—clearly home made. My friend's potato cakes were stodgey. Bean soup was good, but maybe not specialty soup level. The service was also okay—not great, but not bad either. And awkwardly, you are not supposed to walk in the front door that faces the street. We did, and an employee just walked by us and said, "The entrance and host stand are at the back door." We were literally right on top of tables placed near that front door. So, I'm undecided. I'll definitely try it again and give it a second chance. I'll update my...
