Living in Indian Head, there isn't much around here in the way of ethnic restaurants, so I was excited to learn of a Thai restaurant in Ft Washington, just up Route 210. I read the some good reviews on the establishment, so I decided to give it a try. When I walked in, I was seated quickly and provided a menu. The waitress came over and asked me what I'd like. Since it was lunch time, I decided on lunch - however, there was only 1 vegetatian item on the lunch special menu. So I asked if I could get one of the other vegetarian entrees as a lunch special. She said they would do that for me, and I was pleased. I tried the Pad Tae Jae. The waitress asked me if I'd like the egg that they put in it, which I was ok with, since I am more of an evo vegetarian. She then brought me their usual appetizer soup in a small bowl which was essentially broth with mushrooms and chicken. I would think it would have dawned on her that I was vegetarian and I wouldn't eat it. I asked if they had a soup without meat in it, and she said they didn't. This made me feel that, unless you're a meat eater, you can forget about the same appetizer treatment that meat-eating patrons get. I found this a bit discriminatory, but I was fine with it. Whatever. My entree was served rather quickly. It was a fair size for the money, which was $6.95. Not a bad deal. However, the food tasted like it came out of a box, and the sauce was mediocre. No original taste at all. It tasted straight up out of a jar, like Thai Kitchen or something. The broccoli was hardly cooked and tasted raw. I would have preferred it more if it was actually cooked. I guess, for the money, I shouldn't expect the peanut sauce to be made in house, and if it is, it didn't taste like it. It lacked any memorable flavor. At least i can rely on the fact that the veggies were not frozen. Never once did the staff come over to me and make sure everything was ok. My water glass was empty before they refilled it. I asked to see a menu while I was eating because I was thinking of ordering some summer rolls with my lunch. However, everything, as usual, has meat in it. Not much in the way of vegetarian in this place. But, I am not going to hold that over them. They are going to sell what sells - and most of the local demographic wants meat in their dishes. One of the staff walked by and took my menu away without asked me if I wanted anything from the menu or if I was done with it. When i was done eating, he took my plate away, and again, didn't say anything. When i eat in a restaurant, I like it when staff practice a certain rapport with their customers, especially NEW CUSTOMERS. Develop a connection with your customers. Ask them how their food is. Before taking something away from their table, say something like, "Can I take this for you?" "Will there be anything else?" "How's your day?" "Is this your first time here?" Nothing like this occured at Bangkok Golden. Actually, the staff made the atmosphere feel a bit chilled, not warm. To top it off, my server left to home in the middle of my lunch and didn't say anything to me. I would expect something like, "will there be anything else I can get for you?" "So and so will be your server" "Have a nice day" or anything like that. She could have at least said thank you or anything, really, before leaving. Generally I tip very well; 30 - 40% of the bill if service is good and the server establishes at least some kind of connection with me, but in this case I left exactly a 15% tip and nothing more. Had my server shown at least a real interest in serving HER customer, it would have been a lot more. Generally I only spend my money at select restaurants that give me consistent good service. The food doesn't always have to be the best in the world, but what really makes me go back to a restaurant is how they treat me, which should be "important." I didn't get that feeling here. Can't say I have much of a...

I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years and was looking forward to enjoying a meal there after more than a year away. Unfortunately, my most recent visit left me deeply disappointed.
Upon arrival, my husband and I were seated quickly, which was a good start. However, I noticed a group of four servers sitting together at a table eating. Shortly after we sat down, a young stout woman came by to fill our water glasses. She didn’t greet us or say a word, then returned to her table to continue eating.
After deciding what to order, we waited several minutes, but no one came to take our order. I tried to catch the attention of the server who filled our waters, but she was still at the table eating and her back was to us. Another server finally noticed me and said something to her. She came over, but not before rolling her eyes.
Her demeanor was shockingly rude. She took our orders with minimal communication, grunted responses, and then snatched the menus from our hands before walking away. My husband and I were stunned at her hostility and lack of professionalism.
When we asked to speak to the manager, we were told they weren’t available, but another server apologized on their behalf. By that point, we had already decided to leave.
This restaurant has always been one of our favorites for its great food and service, but this experience was a serious letdown. Based on the unprofessional behavior of one staff member, we chose not to stay. It’s disappointing when an otherwise excellent establishment is marred by such poor customer service. Hopefully, management addresses this issue, as no one deserves to be treated this way when dining out.
So sorry to have disturbed her meal when we came in to get ours!

Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant and it's one of the best decisions we've made all month! I'm going to be detailed with this review, so bare with me. Starting with the drinks, we were offered water, and the reason why I'm mentioning this is because they gave us a pitcher of water as well! It was very convenient and came in handy. We also ordered the Thai Iced Tea, and it was super good! Don't get it, though, if you don't have a sweet tooth. Next are the appetizers, ordered the Spring Rolls and Fried Squid. Spring rolls were crispy and delicate! The dipping sauce that comes with it was a sweet sauce with hints of orange in it. I could've drank the sauce honestly, but I held my dignity. Fried squid was fried perfectly! Not rubbery or anything of the sorts. The tempura crust was slightly sweet but very light. It's the same sauce that came with the Spring Rolls so you already know my thoughts. Would definitely order both again. Since it was a rainy day I ordered the small Tom Yum Goong soup. It was super refreshing and absolutely hit the spot. I ended up sharing it because my boyfriend liked it so much. Finishing off with the entrees, I ordered the Drunken Noodles and my boyfriend ordered the Roast Duck Curry. Both were pipin hot and spicy, that's for sure! I'm able to handle spice pretty well, but the dish that I ordered had me nervous. The dish itself, though, was very tasty, and I would definitely order it again. The Roast Duck Curry was absolutely delicious!! Never had Duck before, but it was very tender and prepared well. Highly recommended both dishes!! Overall, 10/10 would definitely come here again!! Best place, hands down, to eat Thai food here in Fort Washington. The staff were pleasant and polite so that's a plus as well! Thanks for the great food, definitely sleeping...
