Salsa Grille is The Shiznat!
Seriously. I wish there was one closer to home.
Similar to the Mexican fast-casual, you do down the assembly line, starting with what type of food item you want (tacos, burrito, a bowl, salad, etc) and add your proteins and veggies and sauces and assorted toppings as you go down the line. You've been to these places before.
One of the things that stand out for me is the variety of items available. Yes, they've got chicken and beef and barbacoa, but they also have chimichurri chicken, which is an absolute stand-out item. If you're unfamiliar with chimichurri, it's chicken that's typically sautéed with finely chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano and red wine vinegar. That leads to a very green colour, but the taste is (insert chef's kiss here). I typically get mine in bowl but vary the toppings over time.
As you go down the line and add your toppings you're basically creating your own meal. At the end of the line you're handed your meal on a tray and each order comes with a small bag of freshly made chips and you can chose from any one of about ten different types of salsa. I've tried most of them, my favorite being the tomatillo because it tastes so fresh, but they're all made fresh in store and each has its own distinct flavor.
We've been to this location a number of time and the service has always been awesome and the facility has been very clean. They do a great job of keeping the dining room clean.
Salsa Grille has yet to recover from Covid practices regarding the Salsa Bar, but I get that. It saddens me, but I get it. Currently your salsa is kept in 2oz soufflé cups behind the line and you have to request it at the counter. I'm sure as we move further towards Covid recovery that the Salsa Bar will return.
In a world of QDoba, Moe's, Chipotle, and Salsarita, I'd take Salsa Grille over all of them. If I had the means I'd bring a Salsa Grille franchise...
Read moreFirst time ever ordering from Salsa Grille and I did a curbside pickup order. I was at work starving as I forgot to bring something for lunch today. I haven't had Mexican in a while and thought it sounded pretty good. Though I needed something fast casual that I could pickup quick. Salsa Grille was the closest thing to my office. I ordered a burrito and a single churro. Personally, I never order burritos as I am a taco fan, but I read reviews that said their burritos were huge. So I figured I could have some for lunch and maybe dinner. First off, the burrito the huge! I was actually quite surprised by the size and weight of the thing. It was very filling. The taste was very good. I have no complaints at all on the burrito. For the salsa, I chose the avocado salsa and the pineapple chipotle salsa. Both salsa were really refreshing and tasty. The avocado salsa however had a very spicy kick to it, though it didn't last long. They were both very good salsas. The thing that I did not enjoy at all was the churro. I have had churros before and wasn't expecting anything fancy, even though their churros are two dollars a piece. Though the churro I got, was basically inedible for me. It was way too overcooked on the outside in parts and then I suppose somewhat undercooked on the inside in parts. It was just a mess. I took a few bits, but it just tastes of oil and whatever else the cooked in that same oil. I had to throw the thing out. Won't be ordering a churro from there again. However, I would order a burrito again or try out their...
Read moreThe chips and salsa are amazing! Some of the employees make sure they understand. If an order was made incorrectly, then the order gets completely redone without extra payments.
My only complaint is an experience yesterday. I have been to the store since it first was public so this experience does not affect my rating. 1 burrito was a bit over cooked so it was very dry and crispy at the end (threw that away piece away). If something is suppose to be crispy, then the texture shouldn’t be only one area of the food. My other complaint that day was the location and amount of my vegetables. There was significantly more meat than vegetables while the vegetables were at the end of my burrito. I do not dislike the ratio, but I think the unequal amounts was a bit odd. My group had to repeat a few times we were all together.
Overall, I recommend the restaurant to anyone. Below is a picture of a family deal (8 tacos), one of the best bargains for tacos I have ever seen! The other pictures are the current displayed items. There used to be pictures of every single item, but the items seemed to be taken down so customers could...
