Dixie House Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Worth

My family and I were in town visiting and we were looking for a good place to have breakfast. OMGOODNESS!!! We found more than we expected. The food was delicious! The service was outstanding. Bailey was exceptional! She was attentive and the sweetest personality.

The food..... The food.... The food.... It was fresh and felt like it was made with lots love. My mom had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The star of the table was the short stack of pancakes my dad ordered. DELICIOUS! They were huge with crispy edges just like we like them. The best I have had at a restaurant. We followed the suggestion from Bailey and ordered the bacon fried crispy and it was so delicious and he was given a generous portion. Not the skimpy 2 -3 pieces you get other places.

On the way out, we met Cynthia who has been working there for 13 or 18 years, can't remember which one, but a little birdie told us that she was the wife of the owner- the brains behind the entire operation. She was so humble and nice.

One last thing, the desserts at the checkout counter.... WHEW!!! I fell victim to the Lemon Cream Cheese cake that kept calling my name. Cynthia gave me a sample and it was delicious. It was truly the icing on the cake that won me over. The serving size was enormous. Honestly, three days later, I am still nibbling on it. I can't say enough great things about this place. This was arguably the worst dining experience I have ever had. It took us 20 minutes before our server came to take our order. After we ordered, she brought me the wrong food, I patiently waited for someone to help us but our server never came. After 30 minutes I stopped someone else and asked them for help, they then proceeded to act like I was annoying them for telling them they brought me the wrong food and then proceeded to charge me $7 for a tiny side of mashed potatoes which I ate because I sat there hungry for 30 minutes with no one to help. Then when I talked to the manager she made it seem like it was my fault because I never got up to go searching for my server to get the help I needed even though I’m supposed to be served on. I then asked her if this is how the service is usually and she said yes in a rude way and didn’t care at all about how I was taken care of. All in all, if they could have just helped me get the proper food and apologize for their mistake and helped me have a better experience I probably would have come back even though the food was not good anyways but instead I will never be back and will make sure everyone know also knows how bad this place is because of how awful the service was from every person we dealt with.

Honestly I'm so flabbergasted I don't even know where to begin. It was 5:30 on Friday and there were 2 other tables besides us. We had 6. We ordered 3 chicken fried chicken meals and 1 breakfast. It was over 80.00, the menu had was different than online prices. The chicken fried chicken was very gummy and the mashed potatoes were so old and discolored that 1 taste ruined every one's appetite. They have a ATM but it was broken when we were there. The bathroom had a broken stall and the trash was set right in front of the door for some reason and it was not a small trash! When heading towards the bathroom I saw 2 trays of tea in glasses, as if to have tea in and only add ice. There were 3 tables, how long has the tea set there?? This place was one of my very few restaurants in the area,and it is apparent it is no longer the same restaurant but merely a name. I have always loved it but sadly I doubt if I will ever go back. Edit: Let's go over the new menu a minute, in the restaurant they said 1 vegetable was 6.95, they said there was a fee to get an extra plate, they had a side of bacon for roughly 8, it said an extra hamburger patty was 10.95, I'm sure there were other French fries but the ones we saw was 16.95. There was a fee to pay with a credit card I can't remember exactly because of shock but know it was between $3-6. This place should shut down and quit scamming the people who have supported...
