Roy Pope Grocery — Restaurant in Fort Worth

We were so excited to see the new RP. The sandwiches are awesome (as well as the guy behind the counter, Jace) and love their wine and cheese selection. Really pumped about this place.

The only problem I’ve had so far is that one night at about 8:45 my husband and I were on a walk and stopped in for some custard. Behind the counter were two girls - one of whom appeared to be a manager. They informed me they had already turned off the custard machine and when I was like oh but it’s only 8:45 the response I got was a very rude “we’re allowed to turn it off at 8:30” there was no attempt made to be accommodating or apologetic … they just sold me a soupy custard. Having owned my own small business, I know how important good customer service is. If that had been me, I would have apologized for the inconvenience and given my customer the soupy custard on the house. The rudeness of the girl behind the counter was something I’ll remember for long after the custard was...

Great place to meet a friend for a glass of wine or coffee. I loved the former Roy Pope because they stayed open for 75 years and were one of the last of the corner neighborhood grocery stores like I grew up going to as a kid with my grandmother to get ice cream.. but! I’m in love with the new and improved Roy Pope! Outside they pulled out all the stops with a new sleek parking lot and landscaping and as a bonus they opened up the side of the store with a bistro type patio for relaxing and catching up over a glass of wine or favorite beverage. I love to people watch as neighbors walk their dogs and children ride by. The sandwiches and hot plates are delicious too! There are just a few kinks to be worked out as they are brand new; while waiting in line it can be confusing who has ordered and who hasn’t? But they’ll figure it out.. there is a great selection of last minute hostess flower pickups to go, along with cheeses etc~ Nice addition to keep Fort Worth...

Food is really good there The customer service not so much. I've been in there three or four times and each time has been some kind of issue. Today I had to wait 20 minutes on an order that I ordered online, that I ordered online so I wouldn't have to wait 20 minutes. I got asked if I was in the right line when there's two signs that clearly say order here and pick up there. After that the guy behind the counter ignores me takes another order and then tells me I need to get in the order line and then I told him I'm here for pickup like the sign says and then it was oh. After the wait I was told there was no ticket for my order I get it I mean nobody's perfect but I spent half my lunch break waiting could I at least get a soda for free or something nope. Not a friendly place towards me but I am a big black man so maybe that has something to do with it yeah I said it. But no worries they won't...
