Ambiance and Atmosphere: The restaurant boasts a very nice ambiance, perfect for a relaxing meal. It’s clean and well-maintained, with a comfortable noise level that allows for easy conversation. It’s the kind of place where you can hear your dining companion, but you’re not eavesdropping on the table next to you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The service: It was friendly although there was a notable 30-minute wait from when we ordered to when we received our food. Perhaps they were trying to build suspense. ⭐⭐⭐
Food Quality: Now, let’s talk food. The quality and taste felt a bit like the culinary offspring of a chain restaurant and a mass distributor like Sysco.. It's not quite the local flavor explosion I was hoping for. Portion sizes were satisfactory, and the presentation was visually appealing. Value The meal offers decent value for the price. It's not exactly a bargain, but you won’t feel like you’ve been pickpocketed, either. ⭐⭐
From the menu: I ordered the Bento with sesame chicken, a salmon roll, miso soup, and cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was mealy, and the miso soup lacked flavor. The chicken was tasty, but the roll was fresh yet uneventful. I sampled the ramen with my companion & The noodles were good, but the broth was bland and watery, which is ironic considering they’re supposedly known for this soup. Surprisingly, the standout dish was the fries. Yes, you read that right (the fries!) ⭐⭐2.5
Overall Experience: The highlight of my dining experience? Discovering that fries can indeed save a meal. Would I visit this restaurant again? Maybe, but only if I’m in the mood for a nice ambiance and some decent fries. Compared to other restaurants in the area, this place feels like it’s trying hard to impress but falls a bit short. It’s like that one kid in school who always had the newest gadgets but never really knew how to use them. ⭐⭐⭐
Any issues? And how were they solved: the waitress initially brought out three soy sauce containers for our party of five. After a brief debate on the hygiene of sharing soy sauce bowls, we requested more, which were promptly provided. Crisis averted.
Tips for Future Diners: If you plan to visit this popular lunch spot, stick with the rolls and enjoy the ambiance. Each visit leaves me feeling like the food and overall service are lacking. Come for the ambiance, stay for the fries, and maybe bring a book in case there’s another...
Read moreMy work friend talked very highly about this place and i can definitely see the charm!
The place kind of reminds me of some of the modern restaurants in Japan that repurpose old houses, so its def a vibe! I strongly recommend coming here early, I came around 1 and it was packed, and the parking is a bit small. I sat at the sushi bar, which is kind of in a corner away from everyone so it could be kind of a romantic or a nice quiet place to eat but when I sat down at first I felt kind of hidden away 😅.
I was going to get a bento box so I could try a few different things but unfortunately they don't offer those on weekends so I got a few appetizers that I was eyeing and a sushi roll recommend by the waitress. The sushi roll, the white tiger was good, not something I'd normally get but it wasn't bad! It had a slight southwest flavor which im not used to with sushi, so its kind of unique.
I also got the beef bun and okonomiyaki. The beef bun was actually my favorite thing and it was amazing! Especially the sauce it came with! I wish they gave me move to dip the buns in!
The okonomiyaki, which was the reason I decided to go to Tokyo Cafe cause i was having a craving for it. The okonomiyaki was good but not what I was expecting 😅 it was very cakey (could be a new style of okonomiyaki with Osaka, Hiroshima, and modern 🤣). It was good but there wasn't a lot of cabbage inside of it like an Osaka style usually is so it felt more like eating a pancake than okonomiyaki.
Overall, this place has a cute ambiance and decent food and ill...
Read moreBrussel sprouts, dessert coffee cake with coffee icecream and cold coffee in a small vase, tok fries, yakisoba with vegetables & tofu were outstanding. The age-dashi tofu was too crumbly and gummy but the sauce was very good. Just need thinner slices and I think it would help to maintain the tofu integrity. The waitress Valeria was very tentative. Extremely knowledgeable about food and what was in the items. We usually do no meat but the curley items that moved on the food were small thinly sliced smoked fish she made sure we were ok with it before placing order. The wait was not long for us. Parking could be better the spaces are for small cars and A LOT of SUVs and trucks were having hard time in tight quarters. The the restaurant was clean and restrooms were clean and and very well thought out. Yep, go you can do 100% vegan, vegetarian or regular patron. Would get 5 stars if not for the one item we found lacking. This is a must go to in our opinion. But, we all know about opinions. Have a awesome time weather here or where ever but, here is awesome. This place is popular and has a lot...
