I thought places like this only existed in dreams. Haters will say this review is fake, but I went to Sikhay Thai Lao with my sister-in-law for the first time yesterday to experience this dynamite restaurant for myself. We are from this area and were passing through on a visit, and decided to consult classic Google Maps for something nearby that didn't suck. This place immediately caught my attention due to the stellar reviews. I didn't know what to expect when we first arrived, because the outside of the building is unassuming and something you'd never take a second glance at when driving through. I was immediately blown away when we walked in. Very nice interior that was RIDICULOUSLY clean. The host warmly greeted us when we came in and sat us. It only got unbelievably better from there. I used the restroom, which was immaculately clean as well, and our server took our orders promptly after I was seated again. He was expertly friendly and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. I have a tough time making decisions (especially when I'm hungry), and he was instrumental in helping me selected the pork larb - which is truly amazing, even as a leftover the next day. I've never had traditional Laotian food before, so this was a treat. As a side note, this place is worth every penny, as it is extremely reasonably priced for the HUGE portion sizes you get. And, just when I thought things couldn't be better, the general manager let us know that they are BYOB (okay, but seriously, you already had my heart and soul before even telling me that)... When we finished our meal, our server boxed up our leftovers for us, and even gave me fresh rice to take home. Every staff member we talked to during our visit was kind, cheerful, and cordial. Eating at this family-owned-and-operated restaurant felt more like being at home with our own family and friends because of the upbeat, welcoming environment. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place or the people we met there. Everything that can be done right within a restaurant, this place is doing a hundred times over. Stoked to be repeat customer number...

Best thai lao style food in DFW!!! No contest.

I've spent time in Thailand, Korat and Bangkok mostly, i also cater professionally so I am very familiar with these dishes in methodology as well.

I came here because the manager of thai thip in hurst(check them out) moved here, and where he goes, so does amazing quality in service and food.

This place is off 28th im North side but the food is outstanding. Tastefully decorated and spacious you already know this place has the capitol to get great ingredients.

I ordered a boba mango smoothie. Was creamy, well flavoured not overly sweet, pearls tender and not hard.

I started with the apps that you don't normally see at thai places. Like laos beef jerky. Aged pan cooked beef, crispy on the outside tender on the inside and thoughtfully seasoned. Served with a sweet spicy chili sauce.

Next I tried the fermented fried lao pork stick. Very great flavors, not too bitter just a hint of fermentation like a lesser Kim chee tang. Served over a bed of shredded cabbage carrot and kaffir leaves. Definitely get if you want a meaty Kim chee experience.

Moving on I had the Larb chicken at spicy level 2. Shredded chicken, minced cilantro and mint with green onion served with cucumber slices. Such a complex but clean tasting dish. The herbs create both a fresh aromatic experience but also compliment the spicy flavours in your chicken. The cucumber resets your pallet or cools your down if you got a little too much heat going on.

Ofcourse I reccomend sticky rice any time you eat thai. Never the basic rice. Makes the difference.

I ordered togo my all time favorites of pad see ew, and Panang curry. Which are the best of thai in my opinion.

Price point, quality, service. You really need to come here. If you say you enjoy thai food but havnt, i really don't know what you are doing with your life.

Tell Andre...

I came here for takeout because of the Yelp list Top 100 places to eat in Texas and I LOVE Thai food.

The prices were very reasonable. I had trouble ordering take out online where I could pay before I arrived, so I made a phone order.

Even after a 30 minute drive, the food stayed warm. We ordered the drunken noodles, pad thai and the Tom yum soup. However there were a couple issues. We ordered level 4 for the pad thai with extra veggies, however, no veggies were included and there was no spice to the dish. Not even a little. Then the drunken noodles were supposed to be a level 3 and the same issue- no spice was added. The Tom yum soup was the only correct order that we had of level 3 spice and we could notice the spice. I'm not sure what happened to the order because I even checked the receipt and all notations were written down as I had ordered, but the food still missed those.

All that being said, the Tom yum soup was the best I've had since I moved to Texas 8 years ago. It is my standard to compare thai restaurants and it was perfect. You must try it here!

The pad thai was good, I just wish it had the veggies and spice level I requested. The drunken noodles were delicious, especially the veggies that were plentiful and perfectly cooked to still have some bite and not be soggy.

Overall, I hope what happened to our order wouldn't happen again so I can really say I love this place. I do recommend them based on their...

We started coming here about a year ago. Our first experience was extraordinarily great. Service and food were all excellent. The manager was present and although it was packed it was superb. Manager came by our table at least 3 times to double check on us, but all was good. No other experience was ever like our first since then. Today was the complete opposite of our first, and will be our last visit. Giving 2 stars only because the food was still good. But service is beyond lacking! Sat at our table at 7:28. Waitress came around for the 1st time at 7:57 to take our drink order. We went ahead and ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees since we’d had every bit of 30 minutes to look at the menu. Got part one of our appetizers at 8:20 and we still didn’t have any drinks. (mostly waters and a couple bobas) Our food came out like the appetizer... in parts. Some of us were done eating when the last of the food came out. Drinks were never topped off until right before our check came out. Two hours for what should have been an hour dinner for a party of 4 adults and a child. There’s no excuse for todays experience.
