My boyfriend and I decided to try this place this past Saturday, it was new to both of us. We walked in were greeted and sat. The place was very dead probably more employees than patrons. Our server took our drink order as chips and salsa were dropped off. The salsa had NO flavor but that is the least of the issues when we tried to dine in, the first being that there was a hair in the chips. I ordered a margarita on the rocks no salt and a water and we ordered our food. The drinks were delivered it was very obvious that my drink was made with a salted rim and poured into a non rimmed glass because of the salt in the bottom of my drink plus the salt all over the outside of my glass. Our server was no where in sight so we waved down another server I explained my situation and that I did not want this drink due to being made wrong and at this point I no longer wanted a margarita in general and she took it away. Our server rushed to our table about 5 min later asking what was wrong and I explained again. At this point in our service I had also realized there was something floating around in my glass of water and further complained about this and that when our chips has been delivered to our table there was a hair in it. He takes the water and chips and leaves. He was gone for almost 10 minutes or more, comes back to our table with a new blended margarita with no salt, a water and chips and I said no I do not want the margarita anymore plus it was STILL wrong. That I had originally ordered a margarita on the rocks. He said well what do you want I said just the water. He gave me the water and left with the margarita and our chips. Due to the events of this dinner this far I had zero trust in anything that was brought to our table so I examined the new water and found something floating in the new water as well. We were done with this dining experience at this point. The service in general was not great and clearly very unsanitary so we flagged our waiter down and when he arrived he asked if we were ready to order and my boyfriend and I looked at each other very confused because we had already ordered and either our waiter did not put our order in or he was in general confused/not paying proper attention to his customers. Like I said before there were more employees than customers. We told him that for one we had already ordered and two we did not want to stay and eat for fear or what was in/on our food and the cleanliness of the dishes when our food arrives. So we left and will not...
Read moreGoogle should allow zero stars as long as Villa Grande is in business. Went here several times when they first opened. Service was horrible and food wasn't much better. However I assumed that would get better and with traffic trying to get to OTB off Western Center I was going to learn to deal with it. After about a 1/2 a dozen visits over about 4 months I realized it wasn't going to get better. We decided to go back about 6 months ago, more of the same. Service and food were horrible so we swore to never return. We live near by but I will drive to Roanoke for the new OTB. Well tonight my son and I thought we would give them a second chance (more like 8th). We were seated rather quickly. Chips and salsa arrived immediately. Then we sat forever waiting on someone to take our drink order. We were actually about 10 seconds from getting up and leaving when the manager (I believe) walked by and asked if anyone had taken our drink order. I said no in a tone that she could tell I was irritated. Then our waiter comes with our drinks. By this time we have eaten all our chips and salsa waiting. He asks if we wanted any queso and I said yes. I was waiting for him to bring queso with no chips but it never happened. We actually never got our queso. So we waited for quite some time for our food. When it arrived my fajitas were so small. I mean they could have been kids fajitas. A little background here, I always get fajitas. At OTB I cannot even eat all the fixings with the 3 tortilla shells they bring us. However at Villa Grande the portions are so small that I only needed 2 tortillas. Not to mention the vegetables are hardly warmed on the skillet.
I honestly wanted to tell the manager that we would not be back and this was their last chance. But she never bothered to check back in. Seriously the manager at Cracker Barrel can even accomplish that feat.
Do not waste your time. I wish they would hurry up and close down so something better...
Read moreI would have only given 2 or 3 stars, but the food is fresh and delicous.Fajitas are very well seasoned and tender. The chips & salsa is fresh and NOT Hot (salsa is mild),they do have very hot fresh salsa on request,it also is very delicious and very hot.Villa Grande DOES NOT over season their food. And their food is seasoned very well. The Tacos were fresh and very tasty. My complaints is the food was served cold, not warm, COLD. The Fajitas seemed to be pre made not fresh, the fajita plate sizzled not the fajitas. Mexican food is our families favorite, please don't try and fool us,we have had sizzling fajitas before. The beans and rice was served cold, not warm, cold. Also two BIG Men order fajitas and they only bring out one order of fajitas, and Irma said this is for both of you.(We ORDERED 2 TWO FAJITAS). A huge mound of onions with maybe 5 or 6 oz of fajita meat for 2 men's orders on one plate. The manager tried to explain the reasoning,I wasn't buying what he was trying to sell me. Sir you are trying fool me with sizzling fajitas that are not made fresh. And cold beans and rice. Our $2 tacos ala carte turned into $7.95 for 3. And 3 sopapillas for $4 that seems a little high for .25 cents worth of flour and sugar.Last couple of lines are me venting about how high food cost are. The food is very good and the employees were patient with me.Irma was good server considering she didn't want any issues, her attitude changed a little after asking for a manager. Irma was never rude Irma was patient. Manager was set it was plenty of fajita meat and it was no big deal we served you cold beans and rice. Manager brought out only 1 plate of hot beans, and some more onions with a very small portion on meat, all small pieces.Mexican food is our families favorite, please don't try...
