I ordered a club sandwich and when it arrived I was appalled. There was one thin slice of meat on each layer of the sandwich, not even once slice of each meat, but just one random slice. It was supposed to come with avocado, which they didn't have on there at all, and I asked for no tomato, which they out on there. There was more bread than there was meat, not to mention that the bread was gross and chewy. And the mayo that come on it they just brought in a bottle for me to take my sandwich apart and out it on myself. I had one bite and I was disgusted and surprised anyone would call this a sandwich. IT WAS A $9 SANDWICH. I WANT SOME MEAT ON IT!!! And when I told the lady I didn't eat it so I didn't want to pay for it, she scolded me and asked me what was wrong with it like it was my fault for not liking it. When I explained everything to her she just scoffed. My om had the chili and told her it tasted like it came out of a can and that it was cold and that she also didn't want to pay for it, she rudely told her it's made fresh everyday, like she was trying to make my mom feel like an idiot for even thinking it could be from a can. She huffed at us and reluctantly took it off the bill, and glared at us then entire time we were leaving the building. Not only is it disgusting and unacceptable food, but the atmosphere is drab and the staff is rude and unappealing. This was our second time there, as we had a similar experience our first time and decided to give them a second chance. NEVER. AGAIN. I wouldn't let my dead...
Read moreThis is my special place to go once a month when I can afford it to get Eggs Benedict. It reminds me of my days in Aspen where there was a restaurant that served only Eggs Benedict on Sundays. There was an old Cowboy Cook who would come in special on Sunday Mornings at 3AM just to make the Hollandaise Sauce from scratch and he would start poaching the eggs about 6:30. They opened at 6:30 and there was always a line because the locals gathered there early before church or farm duties, or skiing. I miss those days and I vicariously relive them thru The Texan Diner. Today was a little off, the waitress wasn't very attentive, people who came in after me were waited on first and I got my food after they had already departed. It looked beautiful in its presentation, and I had ordered hash browns with onion and crispy well done and an order of bacon, and extra Hollandaise Sauce for the Hash Browns. But, when I took a bite of the Eggs Benedict, it tasted very salty, which was odd as I had not salted anything. I had poured the sauce on the potatoes and then realized they were way too salty. I called the waitress and she went and told the cook. I saw him dip s small spoon in their container and taste it and then he made a face and said something to her. She came and acknowledged it was too salty and they would make another batch. Of course it was too late because most my food was gone by then. Oh well, there is always next time, or, I can just go a little further to Republic Cafe on Beach Street and have their...
Read moreWe had to make a Walmart grocery trip and decided to stop at Texan Diner for a try first. We were promptly greeted and seated, given any choice of the tables. There weren’t too many people inside.
Our server was attentive and the food was out pretty quickly, quicker than I figured for a diner anyway. My daughter ordered the kids max and cheese, it was rigatoni-type shells with a cheese sauce. Not the best but not terrible. She didn’t finish it, she normally finishes all of her beloved Mac and cheese. But she said it was because she didn’t want to eat so much cheese. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped meat loaf with Mac and cheese and fries as his two sides. It was tasty! The meatloaf may not have been the freshest though. Those fries were homemade and salted just right. Lastly, I ordered the Texan Cobb Salad. It was huge and had bacon, grilled chicken, avocado, egg, shredded cheese and pico in it. I had it served with home style ranch, delish! They gave me that good ranch, if you know you know.
So overall the food was good. Our server didn’t ask if we wanted to take any leftovers with us though (hubby had over half his meatloaf left and a lot of Mac and cheese while I had a ton of salad left as well) before she took our plates away. She was abrupt, but she did fill my husbands tea once. Not a dealbreaker though.
Maybe we should come back and try the breakfast since that seems to be what most people order from here. I honestly thought they didn’t serve breakfast all-day so I didn’t even give...
