Went to Leroy's today sat 1/30/21 around noon. This is my second time eating at this New Mexican restaurant. Today I was a little disappointed. Well first of all let me remind you that New Mexico is still lock down from COVID. My husband and I decided to spoil our self with a hot New Mexican plate that I didn't have to cook ;) My husband walks in, placed our order, and pays. When he is paying the cashier asks him while holding his change from pay cash " If he wants to leave a tip?" Mind you that there is NO INDOOR dining in the state of New Mexico. So this girl asked for a tip to take our order? She felt entitled to a tip. A tip is given when a customer feels like you did a good job, tips aren't given because you ask everyone if they want to leave a tip. Little did she know when we carry out we usually leave a tip depending how long it takes to make our food, and dam the food came out fast. Today our chile was really watery. The flavor was there, but it kind of spilled all over the place due to the chile being so watery. I was also hurt when we got home and my dessert that comes with every meal wasn't in the bag.... three stars was for the food. Lost two stars for the service. FYI We tried to support New Mexican restaurants to preserved New Mexican culture here in New Mexico, While Texas' restaurants are popping up in old town, Seattle food trucks on fourth. While Lolli's closed for good and many more New Mexican restaurants are being flush out...
Read moreOh man...... You ever get greeted and helped by the nicest person ever, so you don't want to leave a bad review? Yeah that's this review. She was kind, smiling, and helpful. This girl made me want to be a regular. So I absolutely hate that I have to leave a mom and pop shops a 1 star review. But please see the picture below! I was craving tamales. I'm heading home. I've had really good tamales at El Modelo but they're expensive and further away. I look up restaurants nearby and this came up. The menu price says $2 per tamal (in the pictures here) and this place is 4 stars. Let's go! I was charged $16 and some change for 4 tamales. 4 broken, sad, not very good tasting tamales. 4 tamales that shouldn't cost $6 for all of them they're so sad. I mean look at the picture! If there was tamales left at the bottom of a bag. And they tried to piece them together to give away. It may look like this. I tried a piece when I got home and it was soggy so I got all the broken pieces and put them on a comal to try to get them crispy and good (second picture). The more I looked at them, the more upset I was that this was almost $17 freaking dollars. So this review is what they earned regardless of the nice girl at the counter. No, I won't be going back ever, and honestly, I hope you see this Pic and know exactly what to expect for $16 and change. Holy cow guys. Thiscwas v simply terrible. Who serves that and...
Read moreThe wait was a few minutes for breakfast. We were nicely greeted by the server. The establishment has a few tables for indoor dining. You may need to wait outside for a few minutes before you get inside. During our visit there was a bit of smoke in the establishment, not a lot but not well ventilated. They took our beverage orders a little while later. When they came with beverages they took our food order and I can confirm that it does take a little while to make. We ordered huevos with green chile and some chorizo and potatoes and huevos with green chile and some carne adovada and potatoes as well. The green chile was not spicy, actually surprised it looked almost brown. The potatoes were a little greasier than I would've liked. I appreciated the onions and jalapenos in the chorizo. Overall the meal did not have the best green chile presentation or flavor. The carne adovada and sopapillas were the high point of the meal. Chips and salsa were okay as well. For being a New Mexican staple for a long time I would've liked the green chile to be the star of the show,...
