This may have been my best restaurant experience. The Outlaws & Legends Steakhouse is located in the 7 Keys Lodge (historic Baldpate Inn), right across the road from Lily Lake. The setting is absolutely incredible, perched on the side of the mountain, overlooking the valley below. There is a handicap accessible ramp at the top of the drive. The outdoor deck next to the restaurant has seating and the amazing view, plus many hummingbirds at the hanging feeders. You can order drinks and appetizers there if you like. The restaurant itself is actually pretty good sized, with two sections - one that has direct views of the valley through the window wall, and the other section inside, with indirect views, since the entire restaurant is pretty open with doors and interior windows. I highly recommend the outer section due to the views. The staff was incredibly attentive. We had reservations, a good idea for anyone wanting to go in the future as this place becomes more popular. The menu is not large (check the website) but had great selections of seafood, bison, pork, duck, steaks and salads. Our wonderful waitress, Lex, brought out the bacon bun appetizer - a Lithuanian recipe. To say it was delicious is a vast understatement! For appetizers, we ordered a plate of the "Lamb Lollipops" to share, and my wife got a Caesar salad. The lamb are mini tomahawk chops, served with chimichurri, and absolutely delicious! The salad was beautifully presented, with fresh and perfect ingredients. My wife said it was the best she's ever had. We also ordered the tomato bisque, which came with two pieces of buttered crostini. My first bite of the bisque-covered crostini was almost overwhelmingly decadent! It was so much better than I can describe. Made from fresh tomatoes and herbs, thickened with fresh Parmesan, it could be a meal all on its own. Really, you have to try it! For the main course, we ordered the Lamb Lollipops with a side of garlic mashed potatoes (my wife), the Elk Tenderloin (me), Beef Tenderloin, Aged Beef Ribeye, and the Surf & Turf. I've already reviewed the lamb, and my wife loved them, and even put some of the chimichurri in her mashed potatoes. I ordered the elk medium rare, and it was tender, perfectly cooked, and accompanied by squash and baby multi-color potatoes. The blackberry sauce elevated the already amazing elk to something transcendent. Truly one of the best steaks of any kind I have ever had. The tenderloin was ordered medium (I would have ordered medium rare) and was tender, accompanied by an ordered side of the squash. The ribeye looked great, tender and cooked medium rare. The surf & turf had a generous lobster tail alongside the tenderloin, accompanied by asparagus tips and the roasted baby multi-color potatoes. For drinks, my wife and I ordered the Key Hole - finished with a smoked infusion. Delicious! Other guests at the table ordered white and red wine, and samples of choices were brought out by Lex for them to select from. We ordered a chocolate-peanut butter mousse to share at the table. Beautiful texture, not too sweet, subtle peanut butter flavor alongside the dark chocolate, an absolute delight! At some point, we have to return to try the Key Lime pie and the Brownie. Al came out and was very helpful in boxing up our leftovers to take back to the cabin. During our dinner, we were visited by Brett and Abby, who run the place. Those amazing bacon rolls are Abby's recipe, and Brett, with his chef, designed the menu. We talked with them quite a bit, and they were very interested in our impressions and wanted to make sure that our experience was outstanding, and it was! It is not an inexpensive place, but the quality of ingredients, the presentation, the setting, and the care and attention from the staff make it worthwhile. It is truly an elevated dining experience. Additionally, there is a tavern menu for those seeking less of a meal, and there is a Sunday brunch that looks absolutely amazing. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. I have no idea how more people haven’t found this steakhouse yet. I’ve eaten at almost every steakhouse in Estes park and this is by far the best. The drinks, the atmosphere, the steaks, appetizers, and staff were all amazing. You can’t skip out of the lamb lollipops or tomato bisque soup to start. The, complimentary, bacon rolls melted in my mouth and I don’t even like bacon. Main dishes were all cooked amazing and perfectly to temp: steak, elk, and deconstructed beef Wellington. The corn, mushrooms, potatoes, and asparagus on the side are perfect. The sides are perfectly sized to eat one by yourself or two or three to share. There is a wide wine selection and the mixed drinks are delicious. Whiskey sour is my personal favorite, and this was one of my favorites I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is such the perfect cabin vibes. The furniture and building itself was hand built by the original owner in 1908. Our waitress was so nice and attentive, and made sure the kitchen was aware of a gluten allergy at our table. The items are marked gf or not on the menu and the staff is well versed in what is safe or not. I hope more people come and support this new restaurant. It’s amazing.

First I don't work here nor have any stake in the business. Check out my other reviews to verify. I just love this place and want everyone to know about it! Abby and Brett , very experienced Restauranteurs, operate this excellent steakhouse and will make sure your visit is perfection. Come for dinner, and don't miss brunch on Sunday. Ask for Ella as your server, and if you're lucky, Hayden will run the food to your table; they are both amazing people and will treat you like family. The views are incredible; matching the historic ambience. Don't miss the Key Room Bar and the collection of over 28,000 keys dating back to the 1920s. Cocktails are beautiful and taste as great a they look!! Grab lunch or some nibbles and meet up with friends. Weekends through the summer offer live music events featuring singer/songwriter Mark Powell (the property owner with his wife Meredith, who is also quite talented) and some amazing artist friends performing in the outdoor theater nestled in the trees. Legendary. This is a must for your Estes trip... you'll find all the locals there too!

Hurry up and eat here before they close for the winter! I'm serious, this is one of the best meals I've ever had. Was it cheap? Absolutely not. But worth it? 100%! First, our fabulous waitress Lex was the best! She got us the table in the sunroom we wanted for my MILs bday so we could have the INCREDIBLE view.

And the food. Holy bacon! And by that i mean OMG the bacon stuffed bread rolls were mouth watering. They were hot and fresh and the recipe comes from one of the owners (Abbey) grandmother and boy does it taste like they're made with grandmas love. Next we got the lamp lollipops and they were so flavorful and tender. Tomato bisque soup and 3 meat chili (elk, bison & beef) were delivered to the table next and it was like you knew you shouldn't eat it all because you're going to get a big meal but YOU JUST CAN'T HELP IT!!! Again the flavor was excellent and the small touches of the cast iron bowl in the wood dish really perfect it. Now the meats. The bison and ribeye were so delicious our whole table went silent because no conversation was going to be better than this meal. Tender, juicy, cooked to perfection.

Abbey was also a delight. She came to table to check in, was helping servers and delivered us hot towels on a platter to wipe off our hands at the end of our meal. What a touch!! She even brought my MIL a tiara to wear for her birthday celebration.

Drinks were very good, not necessarily stand out but still delicious and a great pair...
