Extremely bad service at the bar. Sat at the bar for dinner. Looked like there were 4 bartenders. A good 5 minutes before being acknowledged and the counter was loaded with dirty dishes from previous customer while was waited. Ordered a beer and an appetizer. The fried calamari was very dark as it would happen using old or dirty fry oil. It tasted OK. Sat for over 10 minutes after finishing that and had to stop one of the bartenders and ask them to take our dinner order. We ordered. Food was slow coming out. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was extremely fried and very dark colored and very greasy. It had zero flavor. There was even a grease puddle on the plate. No heat, no seasoning, nothing. Nashville chicken is supposed to be sorta spicey. This was just greasy flavor. The French fries were at least seasoned. Very disappointed. The butternut squash dish was ok. Hard to find the pieces of butternut squash in it. They were microscopic. The bartenders never checked on us to see how things were. I would have told them about the poor tasting food. They were not too busy behind the bar especially since there was 4 of them. The beers were good, but they were sold out on many of the beers on their beer list. Not good for a place known for its beers to run out of many of their beers. Beer prices were good. Mens restroom had an overflowing trash barrel. They need a bigger one or at least 1 of the 3 or 4 hosts working need to check there once in a while and not play in their cell phones.
They had a live singer, he was good. The place is very loud and hard to hold a conversation and could hardly hear the singer. A few TV screens. The tables are very close together and hard to navigate around the rows trying to walk to the bathrooms or in general. You are almost elbow to elbow with the next table.
All in all, from hearing about this place and finally getting to go, I was disappointed. The hosts never said thank you or acknowledged us leaving. Didn't see anyone who appeared to...
Read moreThis is not a review for the restaurant, but for one of the owners. I recently had an incredibly valuable experience at my takeout, and I just have to share it! Frank, from Station One in Foxboro, went above and beyond to offer me some game-changing advice during his visit.
As a small business owner running a takeout spot in Watertown, I was struggling to keep up with the demand for our sandwiches. That's when Frank stepped in. He took the time to chat with me about optimizing our production process, and he suggested investing in a specific oven to speed up sandwich preparation.
Taking his advice to heart, I decided to go for it and purchase the recommended oven. And let me tell you, it's been an absolute game changer for our operation! Not only does it make our sandwich production faster, but it also helps maintain quality and consistency.
What truly amazed me was Frank's genuine willingness to help without any ulterior motive. He didn't have to come over and offer his expertise, but he did. Not only did he recommend the oven, but he also pointed me in the direction of where to find it at a reasonable price. His advice was priceless and has made a significant impact on my business.
Frank's brief mentorship during that visit was truly a blessing, and I am immensely grateful to him. His generosity and kindness have left a lasting impression on me, and I can't thank him enough for his guidance.
So, if you ever find yourself at Station One, be sure to give a big shoutout to Frank. He's not just a restaurant owner; he's a mentor and a blessing to the community. Thank you, Frank, for your invaluable advice and support!
Best Regards, Sam....
Read moreI ordered pad thai with shrimp. I asked if it was spicy as I know some places make pad thai with a lot of chili and it can be very spicy; others make it with little or no chili and I like it. The waitress assured me it wasn't spicy. It came out loaded with chili flakes (which make a dish spicy by design). I ate the shrimp and left the noodles. I was pretty disappointed. My wife had the chicken caprese sandwich and was happy with it. The beer is great. We ordered chocolate cake for dessert. The waitress came back and said they were out of chocolate cake with white frosting, so she brought chocolate cheesecake and asked if we wanted it. We said, "no thanks." She brought the bill and said she was sorry I didn't like the food and took the price of my meal off the bill. I said thanks and stated that I can't eat spicy food. She told me that it was important that I tell the wait staff if there is something on the menu that might be harmful and she needed to know if there was something on the menu I couldn't eat. My wife then pointed out that I had asked if the food was spicy, and the waitress responded that we needed to tell her if it might harm me.... It came across like she was trying to put the fact that I got spicy food I couldn't eat back on me. I'll try the place again as I really like Shovel Town Beer. The atmosphere is good, but on the loud side as the place is painted brick and there is nothing to absorb sound. I think their wait staff could use...
