My family and I stopped by Bánh Mì Ơi to try it out for the first time. We usually have to drive a good distance for authentic Vietnamese food, so finding this hidden gem that was closer to us was great!
As we got there, the staff greeted us and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. They serve bánh mì, drinks, rice bowls, and soup noodles. The place is very cute with a modern aesthetic. I love the decor that showcases the Vietnamese culture. The tables are clean, yet a bit sticky but that wasn’t a big issue for us. The food quality and customer service won us all over.
I got the lemongrass steak rice bowl and the spicy Nashville chicken bánh mi. The lemongrass steak rice bowl was a good portion for dine-in. It was served with lettuce, cucumber, pickled vegetables, and a side of nước mắm (Vietnamese fish sauce).
The spicy Nashville chicken bánh mì was delicious. One of the best chicken sandwiches i’ve ever had. The chicken was seasoned perfectly with a spicy kick to it. It was paired well with the banh mi baguette and toppings, better than I had imagined. It was extremely flavorful. 10/10, I would get this again. I wish they had a more mild version of this sandwich because my spice tolerance is low, but it is still one of my favorite menu items!
For a drink, we got the cafe sua da (Vietnamese condensed milk coffee). It was great! Tasted like expected and had a perfect ratio of sweetness and coffee flavor.
This place was great! Prices range from $10-15 depending on what you get; it is a bit pricey but this is a small business, and the food is worth it. I would love to come here again and try the rest...
Read moreUsually never write reviews, but our most recent experience here was very disappointing. This used to be one of our favorite spots in Foxboro, so we were excited to hear that they were open again after being closed for a few months. Unfortunately, under new ownership, the quality of food has gone down dramatically. The server was very nice and trying her best but was clearly struggling to keep up with the amount of orders being received.
The wait time was longer than expected by about 20 min, but no complaints there.
All of the negative feedback can be attributed to quality of food. We ordered a Thai iced tea, a Vietnamese coffee, fresh rolls, lemongrass beef rice bowl, and the bbq chicken vermicelli bowl. The fresh rolls were larger than they used to be but very poor quality. The beef in the rice bowl was super dry and tough, inedible, and the portion is smaller than what you used to receive. Also, the bowls come with a sauce like Nuoc Cham, but it was bland and flavorless. The chicken was overdone as well and any vegetable or garnish on either dish was old and sad looking. The drinks are about half the size they were before but for the same price.
Do not recommend coming here, it is nothing like it used to be. Hopefully they can improve to...
Read moreBeing Vietnamese, I can attest to the authenticity and flavor of the food here at Banh Mi Oi. The food is full of flavor and is absolutely delicious. I was truly excited to have quality Vietnamese food nearby since moving to the area from Boston, where Vietnamese food is abundant.
The staff are very friendly and the service is quick. The restaurant is small and has an interesting layout, but it works if you're just staying for a quick eat and then leaving.
We've tried several Banh Mis including the original cold cut, the bbq pork, and the hot chicken. The baguette is heavenly and incredibly flaky/crispy. We've also tried the bbq pork vermicelli dish and the chicken rice bowl-- both very tasty and full of flavor. We tried the shrimp salad and a couple of appetizers including the spring rolls and egg rolls.
Overall, we give this restaurant 4 stars for their amazing food and friendly staff. The high prices and small portion sizes are what kept us from giving this restaurant a 5 star rating. $10 for a Banh Mi and $14 for a small bowl of pho is on the pricey side, especially when compared to any Vietnamese restaurant you find in Chinatown...
