After a long day at work, we tried Tavolino for some takeout. We called in our order and went to pick it up. When we arrived, we entered the restaurant at the only entrance. There was a podium, but no greeter at the entrance. Not seeing any signs, we looked around and finally a young woman with a scowl on her face looked in our direction, then walked behind the podium into what looked like a coat closet filled with alcohol without so much as a nod to acknowledge our presence. I said "excuse me, where do I pick up take out?". Looking back with thinly veiled irritation, the girl asked what I ordered. I wasn't sure why that was relevant, so I said, "it's under Kate." She muttered something about different locations for pickup depending on whether I ordered pizza or not, said she'd "send someone over," then marched back into the closet and closed the door. After waiting about five more minutes, a woman was walking past so I caught her eye. I again said I just wanted to pick up my takeout, and she said, "she'll be right there." Finally another woman came up, asked how many, and I for the 3rd time said I wanted to pick up takeout. She told me with a look of disdain that I had to go next door, to a completely different establishment, to pick up my food. What a comedy of errors. Why I wasn't told to go there when I called in the first place is beyond me. Then to be treated so rudely by these young women who very clearly had chips on their shoulders was terrible. The food was barely OK - the chicken was overcooked, and by the time I got it home because it had been sitting there for 15 more minutes than it had to be due to staff that couldn't offer simple information is another example of the complete lack of pride in their work these young woman had. The whole experience left an EXTREMELY bad taste in my mouth. Clearly customer service is in very short supply at Tavolino. ...
Read moreAfter a few prior visits that left me underwhelmed, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect on this return trip to Tavolino’s in Foxboro—but I’m very glad I gave it another shot. This most recent experience was a complete redemption, reminding me why this spot continues to draw a crowd and earning back my confidence in both their kitchen and front-of-house staff.
From the outset, the service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. The team moved seamlessly throughout the evening, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of at every turn. It was a noticeable step up from past visits.
The food this time? Genuinely excellent. The meatballs were tender and full of depth, clearly made with care. The truffle fries were addictive—crisp, golden, and with just the right amount of earthy richness. The real surprise was the chicken cutlet pizza—a bold, flavorful combination that worked beautifully and felt indulgent without being overwhelming.
Another standout was the beef short rib ravioli—elegantly plated, perfectly al dente, and filled with rich, slow-braised short rib. It was the kind of dish that left a lasting impression. The sangria was also fantastic—refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, with fresh fruit and just the right kick.
Tavolino’s really stepped up this time. It’s clear they’ve hit their stride, and I left genuinely impressed. For anyone who, like me, may have had a less-than-stellar experience before—this is the visit that...
Read moreI Made reservations two weeks ago from today for 13 people for Saturday June 25th at 7p it would be after a College graduation at Gillette They explained it might be two different tables but they would most likely put us near one another.I Called Friday the evening before to confirm for Saturday they told me I was all set . Saturday comes I dropped off a graduation cake which the restaurant was nice enough to hold the cake in the fridge for the day while we attended the graduation. Thats when I scoped out the restaurant at that time and I asked if we could all even be very close or sit in the way back that had enough seating to accommodate us all . She told me that shouldn’t be a problem she would put us all the back. Then at 7 p our reservation time she sat 6 of us in the corner in the very beginning of the restaurant and the other 7 in the very way back of the restaurant. Really that far are they serious. I am Very Very disappointed in communication with staff. Very disappointed they put half of us at the beginning when you walk in and the other half at the very end. They didn’t seem to be the most pleasant from the beginning. It was my daughter’s College Graduation we just wanted to sit together it was my daughter’s decision she likes this place. My first time I wasn’t impressed at all.Food was ok nothing crazy. I have no plans to return same with the rest of the group that...
