I am sure this is a great restaurant for most. The staff was very friendly when walking in, the service was fast and it had a lively atmosphere. Do not go here is you are vegetarian/vegan or have food allergies such as wheat or lactose intolerance. It comes down to language barrier. Once the waiter knew we had allergies he should have immediately brought over a staff member who could be sure we were only receiving foods we could eat. He did not do this. We carefully told him what we had to avoid, he wrote it down and then said he would check. The next thing we knew he delivered food that we started to eat. He never told us if he determined if the food we ordered was ok for us and as it turns out it was not. We caught this because I questioned the brown drizzle that was over some sweet potato rolls and as it turns out it was Eel Sauce. The sweet potato was also tempura which is a light batter made with wheat. Next, with help from someone higher up and who had better English, we ordered a vegetable dinner which came with miso soup and salad. With questioning we could not determine if the miso had any wheat or not and was advised to not eat which i appreciated. But both were delivered by the first waiter who abruptly put them down stating I could not have the salad because of the dressing. Why didn't he come over first and let us know and then we could have chosen to leave the dressing off? Let it be known that I am not a red neck yankee that thinks everyone should speak english. I actually welcome other cultures. But when it comes to a patrons health they need to have a practice that is followed to avoid this problem. I woke up this morning with severe gut pain. I obviously had wheat. I never did find out what was in the peanut avocado rolls?? They were a bit crunchy and I just thought it was the peanut. Does any one know? because the restaurant certainly did not tell me. Lastly as far as service. While quick, they never came back to chek on us once we were eating. At one point we wanted a little more ginger and just gave up. BTW: we did sit at the booths and not the...
Read moreI visited Saga with two others following the Morgan Wallen concert, and unfortunately, we experienced some of the most unprofessional and troubling service I've ever encountered at any establishment.
From the moment we arrived, the female bartender acted in a way that was both aggressive and inappropriate. While seated at the bar, we were told we had to pay for our food and drinks before receiving additional drinks—a strange and unwelcoming policy that we had never encountered before. We went along with it, but things only escalated from there.
After receiving the bill (approximately $150), we left a $30 tip—20%, which is the standard gratuity. To our surprise and discomfort, the bartender returned and demanded more money, falsely claiming we only tipped 10%. She publicly belittled our group in front of a packed bar, pressured us into giving her an additional $20, and misrepresented the situation entirely. It was humiliating and incredibly unprofessional.
To make matters worse, we witnessed what appeared to be a serious health code violation. Around 12:00–12:30 AM, the same bartender handed a customer a Sapporo that had clearly been sitting on the counter for at least 30 minutes—and it wasn’t even what the customer ordered (they had asked for a Sam Adams). This kind of careless behavior puts customers at risk and reflects extremely poorly on your establishment.
Given that other reviews mention similar experiences with bartenders demanding extra tips, this seems to be part of a troubling pattern—not just an isolated incident. I urge management to investigate this situation thoroughly, including checking security footage from that timeframe.
Please follow up with me regarding this experience. If it is not addressed appropriately, I intend to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
For the sake of other patrons’ dignity—and their wallets—I strongly advise avoiding Saga until these issues are...
Read moreWent with a larger party on a weekend night and was sorely disappointed. The service was absolutely horrendous. Our party made a reservation days in advance and was sat 40 minutes after our reservation time. Then after being sat at our table it took about 30 minutes to receive our drinks. We had our food already being cooked by the chef before everyone at our table even got water. The drink orders were not complicated, and no apologies were made for the tardiness of the drinks. One of the people in our party didn’t get their drink (sprite) until dinner was almost over.
One person in our party ordered a sushi roll that was not delivered until everyone’s hibachi meal was finished. The person asked the waiter not to bring the sushi anymore because by this point he would have to take it to-go, and the waiter was so upset that the waiter tried to force him to eat the sushi roll and then pay for it, even though by this point we were paying our tabs for dinner.
Lastly, our party informed the waiter 4 separate times that we had a person in our party who was celebrating her birthday, and he completely forgot about the birthday dessert until we were getting up from the table to leave for the night.
Our server was Joe and he was either completely overworked that night, or that was his first time ever serving. We never got drink refills and no one ever came to the table to check in to see how things were going. The manager wore his earphones the entire night and did not engage in conversation with anyone at the table. For such a big, fancy looking restaurant they really need to learn how to wait on tables so they can have repeat customers. No one in our party will ever come back to this restaurant. It’s just not worth the time, I’d rather go anywhere else in...
