Good vibes. Food is more of a gamble.
We've been here a bunch of times over the last few years - with a wide-ranging, globally inspired menu it solves any family spat over what kind of food we're in the mood for. With a deeply stocked bar and great list of icy drafts it helps parents not care what cuisine the kids are arguing over.
As for the food. What I've come to expect here is not to come with high expectations. There are hits and misses on the menu and hits from the past may not come out as nice the next time you have them. One thing you can always count on its that every entree will be big; more than enough for a single person.
Last night's trip recap: My daughter had the fried cauliflower tacos. Over-stuffed, and really tasty, they elicited jealous stares from the rest of the table.
My mother had the Smash Burger - Double Six-Ounce patties, cheese, queso sauce, some other sauce, jalapeños. Delicious. Huge and made huger by the crazy monster twisty fries they put on the plate. They don't ask for a burger temperature because it is a Smash Burger. But they should because it never has been a Smash Burger. It's just two normal patties. Hard to fault Citizen Crust here since 75-90% of all restaurants eff this one up. Few joints ever smash down the patty as it grills. Isn't that the obvious part? Fewer still try to get the charred edges. The easiest of all burgers to interpret and still the most misinterpreted anywhere.
Seriously - ask for a temp. Well done is not "smashed". It's just dry. The ol' lady liked it anyway because she's 80 and her tongue died 10 years ago.
My son had the Cold Sesame Noodle Bowl with Rotisserie Chicken. He was deeply saddened by what came out. Really dry chicken, few of the vegetables and a massive pile of noodles which had only a trickling of the lite sauce on the top of the dish. We requested some extra peanut sauce. He was given some other kind of sauce entirely.
My Thai Chicken plate was good. I didn't expect a huge parm-sized breast, but it was crispy and the the spicy-sweet sauce was really good. The pickled cucumbers & onions accompanying it had seen better days. Probably saw a better yesterday. The limp, ragged slices betrayed having sat around a long time in the kitchen.
For food, the pizza is the most consistent thing CC has going. Always tasty. It's also a beast of a cheesy, saucy, focaccia-style pie. That thick, delicious crust is the carb equivalent of a swallowing a beach ball. Still delicious, Definitely best for sharing or as take-out for parties.
As usual, the staff were great here. Everybody is helpful and always seem to be in good moods. It all goes back to the opening idea. Great atmosphere here - good to hang out with family or friends and have a dinner that's secondary to...

This review is more about the service than the food. The bartender serving us lacked customer service and any sort of hospitality skills.
She rarely came over to ask us how we were doing and if we needed anything. We sat there for a while for drinks and then another round. Every time we looked over at her she was on her phone texting.
Then we asked why our pizza was taking a while. We received attitude followed by snarky remarks about how it takes 40-60 minutes for pizza and that it was busy though it was not busy.
Then the food runner who came out shortly after asked what was going on and was looking to be dramatic.
As someone who has worked in the industry she lacked bare minimum customer service skills. Management needs to do a much better job training the staff and setting expectations.
The pizza was good and it’s too bad our experience was tainted but poor service. Service and creating a friendly environment is 80% of it.
This restaurant like many others in Patriots Place is lucky for its location and high foot traffic or they wouldn’t last.
Remind staff what hospitality is and questions should not receive attitude followed by a lack of attention or care for...
Read moreThey have an interesting spread for their menu. We got the carne asada fries and hummus to start. The carne asada fries came with three slices of steak. Could've used more. It was very good otherwise. It had queso, guac, some other toppings. The hummus was ok. A bit on the sweet side. Our friends got the Nashville chicken sandwich and Korean fried chicken pizza. We got the Cuban and the birria burger. The birria burger was very good, but a bit difficult to dip in the sauce. It came with a beef patty and shredded beef. The Cuban sandwich was stellar. Good portion of pork. Ask for extra pickles though. Their fries are almost like chips. Really good. Our friends said that the chicken sandwich was very good but the KFC pizza had a split opinion. We got the bubble waffle dessert and gelato. The gelato was just standard ice cream. The bubble waffle came with ice cream, cheesecake bites, peanut butter cups, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce. It sounds crazy but I think they sort of missed the mark with the bubble waffle on flavor. I would get the banana split instead next time. Still, excited to go back again and try other items. The...
