I arrived with high hopes, grabbing a bag of their yellow caturra, but noticed there was no roast date on the bag. I asked the man behind the counter about the roast dates and that I was using the beans for pourover, and he replied that beans need to de-gas and that they are good for about 6 months, and that the beans he had were about 6 weeks off roast and were all roasted in Colombia, not here in Framingham. He's partially right, beans used for espresso need to de-gas for about 2 weeks because of the method of extraction under 9 bar pressure which would produce carbonic acid if used too close to roast date, whereas coffee used for pourover or any normal atmospheric pressure extraction does NOT need to be degassed at all and in fact should be used within 2 weeks of roast, as the CO2 releases naturally during pre-infusion. Any barista worth their salt knows all this and could rattle it off in their sleep. The fact that the owner does not, and continues to push 6 week old coffee at crazy prices, suggests that he doesn't care. How about a $29 bag of 6 week old Colombian Geisha? Absurd. The owner is counting on people having zero coffee knowledge but is charging 3rd-wave premium coffee prices. Still waiting for a good coffee shop near Framingham,...
Read moreI came here while out running errands one morning; this is one of only a few independent coffee shops in the inner metro west so I was excited to try it. Being a coffee roaster in an old mill building it has a super cool vibe. Unfortunatly Coffee is just OK, it tasted almost Keurig esque in saturation and was also quite a bit too hot for ideal extraction, but service was nice and prompt.
Parking also seems quite difficult with only a couple spots in the front, none in the street, and a few in a small lot diagonally across a very busy intersection that is in desperate need of some more cross walks, you need to use 2 cross walks on separate light timing to get here safely from the adjacent lot. Breakfast croissant was alright, seemed like fresh ingredients but it was still chilled in the center. I was a little disappointed in the food and drink, especially given the super cool space and vibe. I would still come here again if I'm in the area but there are many things this place could...
Read moreCoffee is great! Consistency is not. The quality of their coffee is wonderful. The beans they source are flavorful and they do a good job of roasting them in-house. I enjoy getting their beans for my at home brew. Their coffee drinks, however, are sometimes good and sometimes less than stellar. I typically get a mocha and about half the time it's wonderful but the other half of the time it's like they forgot a step. This most recent visit's mocha tasted like it was made with tea. Unfortunately the coffee is typically served so hot that I don't notice any error until I'm too far away from the place to go back and correct the situation. I work about 10 minutes away so it's already a time commitment to go here for a coffee break. I keep coming back though so that tells ya that is definitely good coffee, however you might want to linger for a while if you get a latte. The staff are really nice as well and it is a present atmosphere so definitely worth a linger in non...
