If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exquisite flavors with exceptional service, look no further than La Catina! This gem in town serves up the most exceptional lamb lollipops and is home to the best pizza you will find anywhere around!
We visited recently and had a slight wait for our lamb lollipops, but let me tell you—it was absolutely worth it! When they finally arrived, the rich flavors and perfectly tender meat made us forget any wait we experienced. As for the fungi pizza, it’s a masterpiece in its own right—crispy, perfectly topped, and bursting with flavor.
What truly set this experience apart was the outstanding service. The owner is a delight, and her commitment to customer satisfaction is evident. When our lamb was delivered a little later than expected, she graciously compensated us with a lovely bottle of wine, which was a thoughtful touch that really made our night. Her warm demeanor and attentiveness created a welcoming atmosphere that we’ll happily return to.
If you decided to visit (which you absolutely should), make sure to sit at the bar and ask for Joe. He’s incredibly attentive and always makes sure his customers feel special. We left feeling satisfied and excited to return for more culinary delights!
Overall, La Catina deserves all the praise for its incredible food and stellar service. Don't miss out on this wonderful...
Read moreWines We ordered a flight of five wines and shared it between us. • Barbera – Oak and leather, but overwhelmingly high acidity. Not my style. • Montepulciano – Plum, black currant, touch of sweet apple. Medium acidity, quite pleasant. • Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 8 – Green apple, oak, leather, tobacco. Medium+ acidity, moderate-to-light tannins. • Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 169 – Strawberry and berries. Low-to-medium acidity, very soft tannins. • Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – Oak, leather, mid-to-high tannins, medium+ acidity. Structured and full-bodied — the highlight of the tasting.
Food The food was excellent — especially by local standards. We had the salmon tartare, roasted pork belly, and the fig & pancetta pizza. The pizza was bold and creative, but worked beautifully.
Service Attentive and friendly, but I would have expected a bit more wine knowledge from the staff — tasting notes, pairing suggestions, or details about the vintages.
Atmosphere Relaxed and enjoyable. The only downside was that it was quite loud — not because of the winery itself, but simply because people here tend to talk very loudly in such places.
Overall A wonderful winery with character, delicious food, and wines worth discovering. Highly recommended — we left with a very...
Read moreMy wife and I dined here this past v Ning. She had recently attendeda a baby shower here and raved about the fig pizza and the rotating gas pizza oven . So, she convinced me to try dining there even though I thought some of the offerings seemed “interesting” including that fig pizza. Boy was I wrong and had to admit it. We started of by sampling a flight of 5 of their wine offerings along with a nice side of well prepared focashia bread. The wines were outstanding and I was impressed enough to purchase 2 to go home with. The fig pizza was as great as advertised. Just the right amount of sweet and savers and the crust was thin with the edged nicely charred. We also split their wedge salad and I ordered the sea scallops. All prepared in ways that I had not tried before but proved to have excellent combinations of ingredients. All of this was finished off with a double espresso and a nice slice of homemade tiramisu which the two of us split. We are now fans of this excellent local restaurant and plan to return soon. All in all, what a nice dining experience this evening from the service to the food....
