This place was phenomenal. Where to even begin. Came here with family who were visiting Franklin. Wasn't sure what to expect but it looked like a cool place so had to check it out.
We arrived just after open on a weekend. Our server greeted us and was super friendly and welcoming, telling us all about the place, the products they offer and really going into detail. It's that level of service which really goes above and beyond and makes you feel special rather than just another customer.
We ordered a wine tasting, a burboun tasting and a mead tasting. I've tried mead a handful of other times before but have never been blown away by it. This blew me away. From the server explaining how it was made, to the presentation, to the aroma, color and taste. Everything was so elevated and so fine. It opened my eyes to mead in a way that I didn't think would happen when I ordered it. The level of quality is unmatched by anything I've experienced. If you are a fan of mead or even if you are just curious and wanting to try it do not pass this place up, you will not be disappointed.
My party had a similar experience with the burboun and wine tasting. The selection of burboun is unmatched. The tasting was clean, the flavors were loud but perfectly balanced, and again the service and associated experience is unmatched by any other establishment in all of western NC.
After our tasting I went inside and met Renzo and purchased some bottles of mead to take home. He was super friendly and helpful and really did an amazing job of making us feel welcome. We also ordered some cocktails which also checked every box.
Later that night we returned to order takeout for the whole family and of course I couldn't resist sitting down and having an old fashioned. Renzo helped us again and really went above and beyond, he is super personable and makes you want to come back again and again.
We finished our day here with a couple cocktails and ordered flatbread pizzas for the family. The flatbreads were all phenomenal. Excellent crust, nice selection of flavors and toppings.
This place is a must visit for anyone in and around Franklin NC. Looking forward to going back next time we're...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to give this place a try last Sunday, and I have to say, the service was top-notch. The drinks were also exceptional, and the live music performed by the traveling hippies added to the great ambiance. My wife opted for the pulled pork sandwich, which she thoroughly enjoyed. All the other sandwiches on the menu looked tempting and appetizing. However, my experience was not as satisfactory. I ordered the wild meat lovers flatbread, expecting to savor the distinct flavors of smoked duck breast and wild boar salami. To my disappointment, when the flatbread arrived, the meat looked more like ground beef. It seemed like they had mixed everything together, resulting in a greasy texture. I immediately expressed my disappointment to the waiter, who was understanding and promised to inform the manager. Eventually, the manager came to our table, but instead of offering an apology or a solution, he simply explained that it was their way of preparing the dish. Feeling unsatisfied, I decided to reject the flatbread and ordered a pulled pork sandwich to go. When it was time to pay the bill, I noticed that the flatbread was still included. Thankfully, the waiter kindly spoke to the manager again, and it was finally removed from the bill.
Overall, our experience was good, thanks to the enjoyable music, delicious drinks, and my wife's satisfying meal. In my opinion, I believe that the roles of the waiter and the manager should be reversed. The manager should be the one serving the customers, while the waiter takes on the responsibility of being the manager. Additionally, it would be beneficial for the manager to undergo a course on customer service to ensure that the dining experience meets and exceeds expectations. It is crucial for them to be polite, friendly, and attentive to the needs of the customers. This incident of disrespectful treatment is an exception, as I have never encountered such behavior in any other...
Read moreThe only thing slanted here were the corners of my mouth, smiling from having this absolute gem enter the Franklin scene. It’s very rare somewhere captures an aesthetic quite like Slanted Window has… even more rare to be found in Franklin, NC.
My mother was so excited to surprise me with a visit here for my birthday, and my family all around enjoyed the environment, the menu and of course me (it was my birthday!!) This renovated gas station was giving all of the good vibes - from a cute inside bar to several outside seats situated by old gas pumps, logo branded and all!
For the most part, the food was great. The wine had several great options and, although we didn’t try it (next visit!), the bourbon tastings with smoking options were a welcomed surprise. I’m excited to see how this establishment evolves considering the potential it has provided.
From our understanding it has been a long time coming for this to come to fruition. Aside from all, it comes down to the bones behind it. It only took a quick conversation to understand that the owners behind this place are authentic, genuine and they care. Care might seem small but in even small to large doses, caring is everything. Caring brings people back, caring spreads the word and caring about the customers enjoying the experience is what keeps places alive.
I hope to see everyone care about this place as...
