This review is for the new Surf n Turf restaurant, which has taken the place of the former net seafood eatery. New owners are fantastic! Outgoing folks that are present from the moment you walk in. They have the fantastic servers from before and still an awesome head chef! My family and I have had the pleasure of supper here 3 nights since the grand opening on wednesday, it's now Saturday. That should speak for itself. My honey had the Broiled whitefish, on point 3x. Kiddos have tried the kids fish, ribeye, and parmesean crusted chicken, all devoured, with double sides of their cheese grits. I've personally given a run to the Prime Rib, a new addition to the menu, which was beyond what I thought I was going to get. From the flavor to the tenderness.. again on point. Followed round two by the parmesean crusted chicken, tender, moist and delicious, and then round three being the ribeye. Wow, on point with the cook temp, on point with the seasoning and on point with the suggested sides... collards are out of this world, loaded mashed potatoes are actually loaded, slaw is fresh and flavorful. Definitely setting the bar far above what was here previous. The desserts are on display when you walk in the front door, don't miss them, it's pretty hard to miss really, and you won't find these desserts anywhere else but at the Surf n Turf.. Now back to the staff. Friendly, attentive, and full of heart and soul. You can feel a new vibe in the restaurant versus what was before. The front house staff seem to be full of energy and vibrance, positivity and confidence, while the back of house actually seems to be fully staffed and equipped with the tools needed to make this place run like a well oiled machine. This restaurant, the folks running it and the team working it are worth your money, worth your time, and worth a trip, even if you aren't local. If you're passing through, stop in and give them a go, I do not believe you will leave hungry or...
Read moreFranklin, NC My friends and I ate here Friday night (08/18/2023). While the food was very good and our sweet waitress Megan was wonderful - the experience was overshadowed by the manager Amanda. Megan came to take our orders and while in the middle of taking it, Amanda put her hand up to my friend and stopped her mid sentence and said stop â right there - Megan I told you to clean that table . Then Amanda said she will be back when she is done. No apology for being rude and she embarrassed Megan. So we waited . Then she had Megan clean one of her tables too! It took about 20-25 min before she returned because by then several orders were ready and she had to deliver them . Megan apologized profusely - not her fault . I was a manager - proper etiquette would have been to let her finish the order then call her over and say next time , clean the table first . You DONâT embarrass your employees. I asked to speak to the owner. He , Ray, finally came over after we ate - He only made excuses for Amanda - He never apologized either. Ray said that Amanda was the manager and she ran the restaurant as she saw fit . Again, the customer is right - you donât argue. He should have apologized to us and even if he wasnât going to -at least say he would talk to Amanda. Ray, you have a gem in Megan - you had better wise up and treat her right or you will lose a great employee and wise up and speak to Amanda who is clearly on a power trip or your business...
Read moreWe said we wanted to try and we did. We were looking over the menu while the waitress hovered over the table like a bee asking us numerous times if we were ready to order, she must have been new to the position. Our friends didn't get their potato skins they ordered. The waitress said she thought they were "still deciding" when they clearly said 'We want to start with potato skins'. Husband said the white fish he had was decent and he was happy the collard were cooked decent. Mashed potatoes seemed to be microwaved to heat up prior to serving. I had the Surf n Turf (NY strip and jumbo shrimp) which was one of the specials of the day for $30. At first it wasn't cooked properly and it tasted like it was soaked in what I could only describe as a vat of worchestershire sauce as it was extremely salty and barely resembled a steak flavor. They brought out a second steak that was cooked properly and the owner confirmed that they marinade their steaks for a week. But I still couldn't get past all the salt flavor. Everyone at the table grabbed a bite and said the same thing, way too salty. It's funny since our friends had to add salt to their food as theirs was bland. I think my dish had their portions of salt. So, for steak we will go back to Fatz Cafe or just grill at home where the steaks tastes like steaks and truthfully, Red Lobster isn't so far away for decent seafood. Very...
