UPDATE: I went back again… OH MY GOODNESS!!! The brown sugar pound cake… (fake faint) was so delicious that I turned around and purchased more before I left the bakery. This mommy & daughter dynamic duo are awesome!!! I’m definitely returning. Especially with the holidays coming up. I can’t wait to see what flavors they have. RUN TO THIS BAKERY & try some of everything!!! 1st visit: I love this bakery. The staff was very helpful & attentive. Gave recommendations on the cookies, etc. She showed us pics of cakes & cupcakes that she designed. The cookies were delicious. My grandson enjoyed the ice cream. I can’t wait to go back & try their toffee cookies & some pound cake.

The food looked great, the peach cobbler pound cake was a 4/10 I doubt I'd get it again. The cookies looked like a real winner though. The service was less than decent. The lady behind the counter was kind of short tempered and short spoken. No upsell or assistance offered. I asked myself how the peach cobbler pound cake was and got a shoulder shrug and it's good for a reply. I wanted to look into more items but I also didn't have time to continue inquiring with an already irritated employee. I respect my elders so I just let it go, bought the slice and slid on my way. I'll probably not go back but I like the idea and hope I just had a one off experience.

Came in at the end of the day, on a Wednesday and ordered multiple Cupcakes and cookies. Normally I would Expect to have cookies and cupcakes that taste like they were the “end of the day” ones, but when i say we were BLOWN AWAY by how soft and moist everything was, we couldn’t get enough! Amazing flavors, so soft, and delicious. Everything is well priced and well worth it! We just moved from DC and I think we found our new go to spot for party and event baked goods.

I’ve visited Sugar Grinders multiple times due to its convenient location, but unfortunately, the service has consistently fallen short. On my most recent visit, I walked past multiple employees without being acknowledged. It took a full eight minutes if not longer before anyone greeted us and even then, there was no apology/acknowledgement of the delay. Both employees looked at me with stale faces multiple times. You would think I was bothering them for simply stopping by and giving them business. In an establishment where you’d think you’d receive southern hospitality, I received nothing short of a cold shoulder.

I brought a friend from out of town, eager to showcase a local business, but we were both highly disappointed! My guest found the lack of acknowledgment and poor service offensive, and I left so irritated that I no longer wanted to purchase anything. I’ll also note that it was not busy. My guest and I were the only ones in line, while the owner was literally 2 feet behind me chatting it up with 3 guest that had already been served.

While the sweet treats are mediocre at best, the poor service truly overshadows any reason to return. I hope the owner takes note and makes improvements to ensure every customer feels valued and welcomed.

Until then, I will not be visiting again. I’ll do myself a favor and make the commute to Wake Forest or Raleigh before I step foot in Sugar Grinders again. With service like that, in this economy, I wish this business the...
