Chef Satheesh catered our fusion wedding last September, and he did a phenomenal job! We were extremely ambitious--we wanted to serve our guests a traditional South Indian thali in the form of a Western formal dining service. Our venue was not experienced or equipped for such a service style, and Satheesh had never done it before either. Nonetheless, he dove into the challenge with enthusiasm and passion. He gave us excellent suggestions and embraced our crazy ideas while still remaining realistic. The service staff we had hired were unable to meet the demands of plating over 100 thalis, so Satheesh actually called his own family and friends to help him! We had no idea this was going on until our planner told us after the fact; Satheesh protected us from all the complications. In the end Satheesh pulled it all off wonderfully.
In terms of food, Satheesh is without a doubt one of the most talented South Indian chefs in the Bay Area. His cooking is flavorful and spicy, but approachable enough to delight our diverse guest list, most of whom were not Indian. And before I forget to mention--Satheesh made Russian appetizers for us! They were delicious and authentic. He sourced real Russian herring, which is very difficult to find (most people use the pickled Swedish herrings instead). He is truly a chef without limits.
As a person, Satheesh is humble, kind, and has a huge heart. Every time we visit him he sends us home with huge bags of free food. He is fastidious and detail-oriented (which was what allowed him to pull of the spectacle) while still being flexible and open-minded. We have recommended Satheesh to all of our friends and are happy to call him our...
Read moreWe recently ordered food from House of Currys for a get-together party, and the experience was absolutely amazing! Every dish was excellent, but a few stood out that I must highlight.
The idly and vada combination with mutton curry was phenomenal—it instantly took me back to my college days in Hyderabad. The nostalgia and flavors were unmatched. The Ambur biryani paired with brinjal curry, recommended by Chef Satish, was a revelation. Initially, I was hesitant to try this combination, but it turned out to be extraordinary. I would highly recommend it to everyone! The flavors were so memorable that other biryanis now pale in comparison.
The appetizers like Mirchi bajji, potato bajji, and mixture were perfectly prepared—crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly light on the stomach. For dessert, the mango fusion with butterscotch ice cream, topped with pistachios, cashews, almonds, and tutti-frutti, was simply mind-blowing. It was the perfect way to end the meal.
I highly recommend everyone visit House Curries and explore their wide variety of dishes. If you’re planning a party or have special requirements, don’t hesitate to speak with Chef Satish. He is incredibly patient and offers fantastic food recommendations that will elevate your food experience to...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of discovering Chef Satheesh and the culinary treasure that is House of Curries—a place we truly wish we had found earlier. Everything, from the inviting ambiance to the exceptional flavors, is nothing short of top-notch. On our very first visit, we tried the crab curry, which instantly transported me back to my hostel days near Kakinada, evoking the cherished flavors my mom and aunt used to create. This dish, meticulously crafted with love and care, perfectly showcases the soul Chef pours into his cooking. Light yet bursting with flavor, it leaves a lasting impression on the palate. Beyond the crab and fish curries, the Ambur Chicken Biryani is an absolute must-try—it’s so good that you'll find yourself craving more! This spot isn’t just a paradise for non-veg enthusiasts; the vegetarian dishes are equally outstanding. And to top it all off, the laddoo brings back fond memories of the iconic Tirumala laddoos that we dearly miss here in the US. A heartfelt thank you to Chef for creating such amazing dishes. We’re already looking forward to...
