Very nice experience. The tea room is reservation only, so you'll need to book in advance. The Saturday menu is set for the Victorian tea, which was what we were interested in, so that worked out. They provided us with two teas along with the food. They also promptly gave us refills on the teas when we drank it all. Staff was friendly, and it was a quiet environment, perfect for a small meet up with friends. Just outside the tea room is a large selection of tea pots and cups to purchase if you'd like to take some home. It is not exactly an authentic English tea experience, but I expected that considering the location, and the fact that high tea/afternoon tea isn't really popular in the US. It's still a nice place to go to, and one of the few places that provide the service here.

It appears that they are not having an option for tea time and everyone gets there highest tea set. It starts with the house tea unless you ask otherwise. I would ask for a different tea because the one they served was lukewarm. It is their house tea but I was not a fan. The scone came next and it was the beat thing we ate there. It was warm with a crusted exterior and flaky soft center. We got a second pot of tea and chose earl grey which was standard and good. The savory course was freshly made but my friend had an issue with too many cheese items as her allergies were not assessed prior. The sweet course at the end was standard petit fours and shortbread cookies. I was not a fan of the cheesecake bites. I would probably not come back.

Though there are reservations required to attend the tea session, I made mine the day of and it was worth it. The whole session is about an hour and a half and they provide a beautiful experience. They even have their own tea blend that was so good I bought a bag afterwards. In regard to pricing, it is warranted since there is an experience, unlimited tea, and delicious food. Understandably, there is a flat price for all attendees regardless of age since the experience is the same for all participants. There are three “courses” of snacks provided excluding the tea pots initially brought to the table. All the treats were so filling we had to get a box to go. This was overall an amazing experience! A pillar of the Niles community.

I had done tea here pre pandemic twice and it was decent but never excellent. Booked a large party for my birthday sat may 18th. We arrived promptly at 130 for our reservation. They weren't finished re setting the room from the previous sitting no problem. The front desk was not clear in telling us to check in with the server station to be seated so we were waiting an extra 15 mins to be called before talking to the server and being seated. When I called to make the reservation I asked about gluten free accommodations had to have 4 friends drop out because they have zero alternatives or accomdations for gluten free and they would still be expected to pay full price. The women on the phone literally said maybe this isn't the place for them when i said that was disappointing. For the set victorian tea they FORCE you to book as it is there only weekend option. I was fine with this however the 2 teas they give you with that are not great at all and at 55 a person you should be given a choice of at least 1 pot of tea. We ordered extra pots because the House tea a strawberry kiwi flavor was undrinkable and they could have just not given it to us. The other tea a Carmel also not great but some of my party found it drinkable. The room was half empty our entire seating and we watched them turn away many people. Even though it was hardly busy and it didnt seem uhderstaffed. The wait staff ignored us most of the time. They didn't properly explain the menu. We had to ask 4 times for things like water for the table cream , sugar and the extra pots we ordered of the flavors we actually wanted. I asked for honey for my tea they brought me a literal spoon full. I also told MAXINE who booked my reservation reservation that it was for my birthday she said they would provide a smalltable for my gifts. No table was provided and based on the indifference of the staff we chose to not even bring it up. The food was so so. Only 2 choices of sandwiches the pinwheels fillings were extremely inconsistent from pastry to pastry. You only get 2 types of sandwiches one of the savories was literally melted cheese on a slice of baguette which felt lazy given the price. The cookies were bland and under baked. And the cheese cake bites were miniscule. I paid the same price for the mermaid tea at son and garden 2 days prior and had nicer better and attentive service and more food. The people running this place really need to adapt to times. Many people have dietary restrictions and allergies and majority of other tea places in the bay area can accomdate its not that hard. Out bill was almost 600 dollars and it was NOT worth it. To add several of the people with me had done tea here previously one during the pandemic and noted how bad the service was in comparison...

Please dont go if you are planning a birthday party or special event....

Something has changed and the service leaves alot to be desired.

The staff , or shall i say, the female server we had for my party over the weekend was rude and unprofessional and unpleasant when dealing with a larger party. There was a very nice waiter who did help towards the end who was very kind and helpful.

The food was good and better than expected. and menu sermed interesting.

Going to have tea and an expensive lunch at $33 pp, you have certain expectations but apparently since they include a 20% gratuity, they stick your group in a corner, never clean the table and just say , good luck getting served.

They will hand you a menu and take your order....

They only come back to tell you they ran out of the andre peach champagne...oh and they will charge us to slice my cake..

You had to ask for everything, Which was frustrating and if they were super busy , one could understand

I have been shopping in Niles for years and know most of the store owners there... This place is cute and very inviting to shop in .. Such a darling shop ..

I have gone for tea prior and never had been treated so poorly.

I have no problem with paying a gratuity but when you automatically assume that you don't have to provide any services, it is especially upsetting when it is your party and guests can't get a glass of water...or a fork!!! They just brought the teas and food and disappeared..

We had reservations at 2, and by 3, they were cleaning the place..

They weren't even busy which we noticed for a Saturday afternoon ...now we know why.

Then when you tell them how upset you are, she just says have a nice day with a smirk!!! And collected her $45++ tip on an over $225 bill.

Go there to shop but the tea staff needs to be trained on how to treat people. A tea party is meant to be a very magical and special experience. They don't explain their menu or their teas or anything. .. So very sad because i was so looking forward to this oarty... We have tried and tried to go but never planned it or called for reservations ahead. I am sorry to be the person leaving a bad review because i don't do this normally but i tried to express how upset i was when we left and i was ignored ...

Thank you for...

I went there a few weeks ago at Tyme tea and co. Before you think or plan to go to Tyme tea and co I want you to heavily consider thinking again (and just know I usually not a person who likes posting bad reviews and I am all about spreading positivity. Just looking at the fact they have a 4.4 star review just pains me because that is just way to overrated). the overall atmosphere was just very bad. It is very loud and noisy. the decorations and everything was a bit off and very isn a way messy. The Prices!: The food was so overpriced. The cheapest combination they had was like around 40 dollars per person and the amount of food that came with that order was insanely little, each person got 1 tiny sandwich, like 3 very small pastries that tasted so-so, and a small pot of tea ( keep in mind that the pastries were tike tiny and the small pot of tea was also very mid sized, but the tea was actually pretty good). and we spent around $200 total. The worst part was the service. When two of my friends left to go use the restroom a waiter came by and asked if we need boxes for to-go, but the thing was we only finished half of our food. Then after we finished about 2/3 of our food, a waiter gave us our check and we actually didn't even ask for the check yet. Of course they didn't straight up say we would appreciate if you leave, but I feel like they did have that intention and that they were signaling that. Immediately after we came back home from the store my daughter was feeling very weak and nauseous, so right now I heavily questioning the sanitary of the store.

I know other people may disagree from my point of view but I am writing this on my own opinion of the store. So people who are considering dining at this store please consider all of the points I listed above. Even though I am very upset with my experience this time with Tyme for tea and co, I feel that this store has a lot of potential and hopefully in the future I can write a positive review of Tyme...
