Please know that this restaurant is opens seasonally. During summer days they cater, winter time is when they are open. If you live in Monroe Mi and think you have tried authentic food in this small town, please reconsider and stop by Nena's. I am 2 days from leaving Monroe and I couldn't be more happy to have found the most authentic mexican restaurant in town. Chicken enchiladas and chicken tamales are delicious, served with authentic homemade beans and rice. The kitchen aroma in the small bodega gets you ready to eat! Must try!

I paid $7 for a bag of chips. I thought they must be the greatest homemade tortilla chips I’d ever have but it was 1/4 of a paper bag full of chips clearly bought from the store. No flavor, hard, cold. So the chips definitely need some work or a huge price cut. Nothing was really that good, but it wasn’t the worst either. Not worth the $40 I paid for 2 people. I’d probably eat there again if they lower the prices!

Great Mexican food, I’m a truck driver and I travel a lot and it’s hard to find authentic Mexican food out here, I’m from the border so I’m used to the real Mexican food and up north it changes but here at nena’s taqueria it was as if I was home, great food I definitely come and buy more burritos here 😍😍😍

Today this restaurant did a great kindness!! They were out of guacamole and i was bummed but I ordered.... I am new to this place and did not have cash ... I was amazed at the kindness of the girl (wish i knew her name to include in this review) at the front desk and I want to reach out and say thank you for your kindness!!! I will be back!! You have my word.. The food was absolutely fantastic!! I encourage EVERYONE to try this place and again thank you for being so kind! It is a rare quality in todays world .... You will get it back from me-I promise and more from others....I am sure more! Thanks...

I don't know about the Kare n complaining about "ghetto" behavior as "ghetto" is a place, not a personality 😉

They're professional on FB and are nice and responsive! :) never had a problem.

But the food is AMAZING. They have Mexican coke, which is really good and amazing. :D

The hibiscus agua fresca was amazing and refreshing! It was my first time drinking an agua fresca as well as a Mexican coke.

I had the steak quesadilla. You can tell they put love and care into this.

This is coming from someone that does n't usually eat or like Mexican food!

I ordered tacos al pastor & pollo(chicken), birria ramen & the quesabirria. All of the food was expertly flavored to perfection & authentic. My favorite was the quesabirria, while it was delicious on it's own, the consume made it exquisite. And don't forget dessert...while glancing around while waiting for me food (which wasn't long at all btw) I noticed a fridge with jarritos and slices of flan & tres leches. I took home a slice of tres leches and am happily stuffed with enough leftovers for another meal. Highly recommend if you're looking for...
