our family has eaten here for over 25 years. always the same consistent , wonderful food. nice helpful staff . Their unusual , homemade gravy they pour on the tamales is so wonderful , it will make a tamale lover out of anyone ! They no longer automatically bring unlimited chips and salsa to everyone who walks in and sits down , but thank God they were able to still keep the prices down by doing this.. I have been living in the same house at Bass Lake for 50 years now. my husband was living in it for 75 years except that he died one year ago. in our land of rain, snow and mud we like to let our trucks get really dirty and then we eat at Country Fare and by the time we are are finished eating it's done . you pay for the car wash but your car or truck is clean and shiny. it looks like a brand new vehicle waiting for you. no car wash in town can compare with the car wash you'll get here , all by hand and no machinery. we like to avoid peak hours and the line , so we will drop in at 1:30 or 4:30 when there is no line.. if we want to eat at peak hours and have lots of errands to run in Fresno, then we simply get takeout orders and go drive around a short ways and park under a shade tree along the street to eat our food. it is still wonderful ...( we call in our orders on the cell phone and by the time we get there in 10 or 15 minutes , it is ready and bagged and waiting on the counter. be sure and pick up extra salsa which is 4 for a dollar. Each order will give you enough leftovers to eat at home for the next couple days .)

The food was one of the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant!!!! And I'm not exaggerating. I found out about this spot from a local at the Veterans parade in Fresno.. I was asking around to see where the spots were in Fresno. Rebecca from Fresno at first was hesitant, then I chopped it up with her for awhile, then she said, " my go to spot is Country Fare. ".. I asked her what kind of food the restaurant was. She said Mexican, then she showed me pictures. I went with my wife and kids, and it was in the heart of the barrio and it was packed! We got sat down right away and started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. Customer service is top notch, and the establishment is very friendly. The totopos, salsa, and guacamole were fresh. The totopos were 🔥. My kids ordered combination plates, my wife had the lengua plate mixed with bellpeppers onions and tomato, and the chile colorado plate was so tender, and flavorful, the kicker was the homemade flour tortillas that are very tasty I think estilo Sonora. I have never found a Mexican restaurant where everything tasted great, and I think I found it in this hidden gem for me but not for the locals, which is a staple for Fresno, Califas. You lucky people!!!! And to my homegirl Rebecca from Fresno, whom I barely met yesterday with her mom and her grand daughter at the Veterans parade. See you at the Christmas parade for those homemade burritos!!! I'll be waiting!!!! The pricing is legit and welcoming for all!! Can't say that for a lot of taqueria and restaurants.

Ive been coming to eat here for yrs. The food use to be spot on. Customer service as well. Not no more..the quality of food is awful n disgusting. Steak n potatoes i got were half raw papas n steak looked boiled on one side n sone burnt on other. Customer service is awfully rushed n rude by some. Asked for lettuce to be added to my burrito n was told by semi new staff we dont do that. On super plate we always sub out the chili rejeno for a 2nd taco n was told we cant either. At that point we canceled n tried to pay our michelada but was told on house but we chose to pay n young girl argued back n forth multiple times it was on house we wanted to pay bcuz we didnt want fall back. You dont argue on going with Customer but she did. So eventually we left. So my son n I go eat another time n waitress comes n my son ordered a michelada n she says i remember you . Are you going to stay n pay for yr drink this time in a playful manner...really. ..wow. so no more country for us as we retired this place. Like i said food is awful now n some wait staff need training n manners....bye ...n humble yrselfs

I went to go eat breakfast with my mother and brother, my mother has never been there but me and brother have been here awhile ago. My mother wanter simple breakfast and wanted her eggs not over easy broken but cooked well, they say we only do over easy, scramble. They made here yoke not broken over hard and she did not want to eat it. I told them to bring over scrabled eggs and they said they are going to charge her extra for side.

My mother just wanted 1 egg after all that but they took it upon themselves to bring 2 eggs they made. Instead of making the customers enjoying a good breakfast have a good experience, by making it the way she wanted it like every other breakfast place has no problem making it her way they get mad and hick up the price. From 3 breakfast at $11 a piece, 1 coffee, 2 sodas it was $65. I say whats with the check is right, they side eggs added were $5 an egg so that was an extra $10. Basically the waitress got mad cause my mother was not happy with her eggs on how they were made.

Why would they get mad and hick up our price and give us a bad experience, they think they are getting even by doing that, you think it taking away there job by doing that and giving us a bad experience and making us ever go there again.

For the first time that place was not packed at all and it usually is, you got wait to be seated hardly anyone was at the resturant. Bad experience, bad food,...
