I stopped in here for a couple of tacos because my blood sugar was low and the had a sign outside for .99 cent tacos.
Nice folks, fast service, clean restroom, and most importantly ——- tasty tacos.
But… somehow my two 99 cent cost $3.80 (tax included). Not sure why, perhaps because they asked if I wanted beans and onions on them and I said yes. I didn’t question the matter, I just needed to get a little something in my belly to stabilize my blood sugar. As .99 cent tacos they would have been a great score for the money (see images) as $1.75 tacos, not so much.
Lots of nice outdoor seating area. Overall a good vibe. I’ll need to stop in and have a full meal in the future and revisit this review.
[EDIT] the owner gave a swift reply to my review which I appreciate but disagree with. I made it clear when I made my order that it was my first time in and I wanted two 99 cent tacos for the sake of my blood sugar. The gal attending me asked me what kind of tacos I wanted and I asked her what they offered. She ran off a list and I decided to try one each of Asada and Carnitas. If the Asada taco wasn't offered at .99 cents she should have told me. I don't have a problem paying more, but would have probably opted for two carnitas tacos.
It's not big a deal, it's just what happened. Like I said, I paid without asking questions and even left a 26% tip.
So to sum it up I repeat: If a person asks for .99 cent tacos and is not familiar with your menu then the server should let the customer know what tacos are offered at 99 cents -- simple as that.
Note to owner - thanks for the response. I will drop in again sometime... and order...
Read moreAt a first glance, Don Tacha's seemed like a really nice, quaint taco shop! I wanted SO BAD to like it! Unfortunately, after receiving our food, it was immediately noticed by my wife and I that the asada appeared old. We proceeded to remain optimistic, only to confirm our initial suspicion. The meat was old and tasted freezer burned. After a couple of bites, my wife and I decided to conclude our lunch. I took our plates up to the counter and explained to the gentlemen of our hapless experience. He proceeded to attempt to convince me that the freezer burned flavor is a smoked flavor and that I must not like the smoky flavor. I continued to state that I know what smoked meat taste like and that it did not taste smoky, it tasted FREEZER BURNED! He said he didn't know what freezer burned meant. I explained the definition to no avail. I wanted to give Don Tacha's a chance at redemption by at least offering me my money back, as I returned nearly 95% of the food. To my dismay, our visit did not end that way. I was prepared to deny the refund in light of such a professional gesture. Instead, this gentleman was disingenuously apologetic and invited me back on Saturday to enjoy discounts on micheladas. Obviously I do not plan on returning to Don Tacha's in the foreseeable future. I'll end with this tidbit of advice: Don Tacha's...more like "Don't Touch-a" this food with the most unrefined palate! Sorry, that was...
Read moreEs un pecado! They are so delicious my mom would say it was a sin it's so gooooood! My boyfriend had 2 tacos de cabeza and we shared the Arrachera Nachos (🤤so mmmmm) and Arrachera quesadilla ( 🤤yummmm). We almost went to some gross/boring place up the street and we had this feeling about trying this place and glad we changed our minds! The restaurant is literally a little gem on the street with a familiar environment of a real taqueria en Mexico 😊 There is a walk up window where the amazingly friendly staff takes your order. They really made us feel like we were family and we had some good laughs and will cherish our memories with them. My boyfriend is learning to speak Spanish, but he did an excellent job ordering for us and she understood everything and was very engaging and made the experience very fun! There are 2 dinning areas. In the area of the window there are high chaired sitting tables with about 8x6 spacing and then you cross over into another sitting area with picnic like tables (which all is semi outdoors) with a cool feel surrounded by plants and beautiful lights to set the mood. Great selection of good Spanish music that takes me back to my mom's pueblo. I can't wait to come back here and visit again! Very romantic and a new regular taco spot for us when we're in town for work in Fresno! 😍😍...
