Saizon is a reservation-only restaurant in north Fresno that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With its modern décor, upscale Mexican-American cuisine, and attentive service, Saizon is the perfect spot for a special occasion or a night out with friends. We recently had the opportunity to dine at Saizon, and we were thoroughly impressed. The ambiance is both elegant and inviting, with a spacious dining room, open kitchen, and enclosed patio. We started our meal with the Aguachile and the Tiger Shrimp, both of which were delicious. The Aguachile is a refreshing ceviche dish made with fresh seafood, citrus juices, and chili peppers. The Tiger Shrimp are cooked in a flavorful sauce made with butter, garlic, and spices. For our main courses, we ordered the Pork Belly Al Pastor and the Pork Chop. The Pork Belly Al Pastor is a unique dish that combines the flavors of traditional Mexican al pastor with pork belly. The meat is slow-roasted and then sliced and served on a tortilla with pineapple, onions, and cilantro. The Pork Chop is another excellent dish, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce. We also tried the Choco Taco for dessert, which is a Saizon take on the classic ice cream treat. The Choco Taco is made with a crispy chocolate shell filled with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. It's the perfect way to end a meal at Saizon. Overall, we were very impressed with our dining experience at Saizon. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was top-notch. We highly recommend Saizon to anyone looking for a special dining experience in Fresno. Additional information from the
Saizon is owned and operated by the same behind Heirloom, Lime Lite and Butterfish. And they are delivering nothing short of a culinary interpretation of “Napa Valley meeting Mexico City.”
The Saizon menu features a variety of small plates, large plates, and desserts. Some of the most popular dishes include the Aguachile, Tiger Shrimp, Pork Belly Al Pastor, Pork Chop, and Choco Taco. Which I had to try 😜 Saizon also has a full bar with a wide selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. The bartenders are skilled at creating custom cocktails to pair with your meal. If you're looking for a special dining experience in Fresno, Saizon is the perfect place to go. With its delicious food, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere, Saizon is sure to impress!

For starters, we arrived to a "Where's the front door" vibe.
First the food. We loved it overall. The 5 stars is not for the negative, which are few in number of comments. Some items were a bit heavy on the salt, but I believe I understand because of the pressure to produce flavorful items in a short amount of time with a flair for the gourmet. The Crab Legs were amazing! I blinked twice and they were presented. But the ease of eating and taste that was a delight was well worth the 3 minute wait. (blinked twice in three minutes?). The point is, it was good, and there was little wait. we enjoyed a shrimp dish that perfectly cooked the shrimp to give that crisp crunch with each bite, while at the same time taking me to a back yard with the grilled flavor from a 4th of july BBQ. The beef special, oh my. Each bite melted with a savory movement that left no bad after taste. The marrow chutney was just the right amount added flavor. You wanted to eat until full, a glutinous feeling I sometimes avoid.
From the time we sat down we were given attention. Our server had the ability to balance multiple tables, present a witty charm that kept the table active (even the kids liked him), and made only one mistake (forgot a scoop of ice cream at the end, but I'll live). Even the birthday gift from the restaurant was amazing! An amazing raspberry sorbet that didn't leave you over sugared and comatose for the drive home.
We even ended with the peach cobler, a must buy if you like peaches.
Sure, it cost a pretty penny, but for Fresno it's a welcome addition to the short list of over the top restaurants one can go to on occasion to let lose and splurge a little (or a lot!).
The environment was inviting and different. The waiting area mixed into the bar. It gave a feeling of welcome not found at many other locations. It was also not too dark, a sometimes unwelcome method for restaurants to present a feeling of romance.
If you love food, good service, and are willing to get what you pay for, I would definatley give this place a try at least once for yourself. Make your own...
Read moreMy fiancé and I had never been to this restaurant before but found ourselves looking for a quick bite to eat before we went to a movie. Found ourselves at Saizon and quickly realized we should have made a reservation but still managed to be sat within 15 minutes due to a no-show. We received a text notifying us that our table was ready but when we walked in, the hostess seemed to be confused and couldn’t find our name. We stated for a 3rd we had received a text to check in for our table as it was ready. After a couple minutes the hostess asked to see our text message which rubbed us the wrong way initially as it seems ridiculous to lie about such a thing. As we showed the text message, we see another hostess/waitress walk up confirming she had pushed the notification through herself.
After that, service was amazing by Erica and back waiter Brodie. Both had tended to us thoroughly, answering any question we had and ensuring we were always taken care of.
As far as the food;
Queso dip: While delicious, happened to get cold a bit too quickly as a tapa. Flavors are satisfying but make sure you eat this appetizer within 1-5 minutes as you’ll be left with a Tostitos queso dip off the shelf which is why I recommend a skillet to serve this dish. 7/10
Chicken Taquitos: This was from this Mercado menu which was said to be enough to be considered an entree option but moreso a medium sized plate which was an appropriate description. The chicken was perfectly cooked paired with an amazing salsa verde but as a taquito should have been served warm. The dish was on the cold side albeit having a delicious taste, just seemed strange for a taquito.
Chile “Relleno”; Not sure why there’s quotations on this menu item, this was INCREDIBLE! Extremely unexpected dish. One full pepper battered and fried perfectly. After one bite had no doubt this was one of the best chile relleno renditions available in the central valley.
Unfortunately, for our last dish we were met with a prime flat iron steak cooked “medium rare”. Photos attached will let you...
