Sequoia Brewing — Restaurant in Fresno

Update: Staff is still courteous. Visited for a holiday party. It was held on the outside patio. The ambient temperature outdoors does not help with keeping food warm at a buffet. So, unfortunately, most of the food was lukewarm at best.

Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs were okay. Vegetable Sandwich was okay. The Pulled Pork Sandwich lack pulled Pork and it was more sauce than anything else. Green Salad was okay. The Rice Pilaf was bland and the rice was a little too firm.

Staff was very friendly on the phone order and during the exchange of food for curbside pickup. Unfortunately, that is as good as it got. We ordered quite a bit of food and much of it was not very good. There's a good chance a lot of the food sat in boxes for a bit and got steamed up in there. I tried timing everything, so that wouldn't happen. We live less than two minutes away.

Fish and Chips were okay. You get two decently sized filets and a choice of side. I ordered Sweet Potato Fries. The Tarter Sauce was runny, as if it had been watered down. Was not appetizing. The fish batter tasted bitter. Perhaps fried too long. Veggie Pizza was odd. They used Cheddar Cheese, and we were hoping the dough had a little bite to it. Pretzel bites were tough. Disclaimer: The restaurant was obviously very short staffed. This was understood, however, the outcome was not expected whatsoever.

We made RESERVATIONS for 7PM and arrived at 6:45. We were seated promptly, however, it took so long to receive notice from a waiter that our first round of drinks were ordered from a bar on the other side of the restaurant. We then proceeded to order food and appetizers. It took an hour and a half to receive the appetizers ordered and further an additional 30 minutes to receive our entrees. This was given the benefit of the doubt due to the short staff, as mentioned earlier.

What really put us over the edge was the "compensation" offered by the manager. A round of shots was suggested as an "apology" for two hour wait for food on a $400 bill. Mind you, my grandparents and children are at this dinner; what the heck are we supposed to get out of a round of shots? This is just a pure insult. We attempted to explain this to the manager and the replacement offer was a $50 gift card. Do you really expect us to spend anymore money at this establishment?

The last few times I have been there I was disappointed. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. The fries were cold, the meatloaf was salty. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly and acted as if she couldn’t wait to get us out of there. She didn’t offer dessert. I use to love going there, but I won’t be back.

We had a party of six and we were there on Saturday, February 6. I didn’t get the servers name but she was a young girl. I believe our reservation was for 530. She took our drink orders right away and we got our drinks quickly. The bar staff did a great job. The restaurant wasn’t that busy so I’m not sure why it took so long to get the food and why some of it was cold. We were considering dessert but when she didn’t offer we felt it would just best to leave. Hopefully you can make some adjustments after reading this review to improve your business. Unfortunately neither my wife or our friends will be back anytime...
