Worst customer interaction to date!!! About three years ago I switched from Fort Washington Gym Fitness to GB3 because of their customer service. Today I was treated like garbage.
First I walked into the gym and gave my number. After that, they stopped my brother who is under the same membership and asked us questions. They asked me for my birthday to verify that I'm not trying to sneak in a freebie as someone else I guess. I told them that they already took my picture 6 months ago, but they said the pictures did not transfer from the Cedar & Nees branch. The way Sean was talking to me was so disrespectful that I asked, "Why are you talking to me like that?" Sean the general manager ignored me and went to talk to other gym members.
Jen approached us because my brother forgot to take his picture and I talked to her briefly for about 5 mins. She was very nice and understood how customer interaction works. She even apologized to me when she didn't even do anything. I felt a little better about it & understood this is a new gym and they have many individuals who may be trying to get a workout in without a membership. However, there is an obvious way to talk to your members, which Sean the general manager has no idea about.
After finishing my workout, I figured let me talk to this guy who was so rude to me and understand why I was treated that way. I'm a Director of Underwriting and I deal with clients on a daily basis, so I'm accustomed to defusing a situation and talking about it. After a long day at work from 9-5 I'm obviously a little irritated that I was treated that way. It turns out Sean is the general manager and again he was rude in his approach. He kept telling me these are gym procedures and everyone has to go through them (all in just a rude tone still). Really?!? My birthday? The year? Do you also want my social security number to make sure I'm a legal resident and this is me?
Anyways, Sean obviously absolutely did not want to apologize & was extremely rude once again. He kept telling me these are gym procedures and every time I come in all I have to do is give them my number wait for my picture to come up and "they will let me enjoy my workout". The least he could have done was apologize or say something along the lines of, "I understand where you're coming from." These are just some basics of customer interaction.
I'm usually a very respectful guy and treat people with respect and get the same in return, which is why I was irritated and bothered. Sean should definitely not be a general manager unless he takes some training courses in customer interaction. I really hoped to run into George Brown because I've seen him at the gym a couple of times, but he was not there. I hope he gets a chance to read this review. I have no idea how Jen & Sean could be working at the same place and Sean is the one that is the general manager. Jen should definitely be the one in charge based on how they both handled this very simple situation.
Don't get me wrong by the way, this gym is definitely the best one in Fresno & you will not find better machines or a better environment to work out at. The people that go there are all very nice and friendly. If I rated this yesterday, then it would have...

4/21/23 5:03pm: The black haired front desk girl won't let us workout. Our membership is paid up ahead of every month and the front desk girl wont let us in. We were just at the Palm and Nees location 2 days before and get hassled for visiting this gym. We will be making a formal complaint.
2019-
The great: Space, function, range of equipment, heated pool and spa.
The good: somewhat clean equipment, not too many in disrepair, spacious locker rooms and functional restrooms, and a number of cardio machines.
The bad: Another GB3 that does not curb the culture of properly reracking their weights. I have heard a complaint from some people about "why do you care if weights are placed back on their corresponding spot?" Well, my friend, let me enlighten you with some... dare I say... KNOWLEDGE. Those who go to the gym aren't supposed to be lazy. We are there to make a difference to our health and our bodies. We put forth said effort and are held to a higher standard. Losing time to find misplaced weights just takes away from our gains or attempt to manage our weight. I could go deeper, but I digress.
The ugly: The manager/salesperson is not there for consideration of the customer. I don't know his name, but it should be Frank, because that is how he was about us adding our now old enough son to the membership. We did not need a pat on the back for bringing our son into the gym life, but asking our son his age and then doubting him does not instill confidence when doubty mustafa is an "adult". (Seriously, he's half Asian, you expect him to have had a Duane the Rock Johnson...

I had an emergency and needed to run out for 25 min, I came back, the manager was at the front desk and demanded I pay again. I told him I just had to run out real quick and didn’t even get a chance to use the gym, he asked for my receipt. I told him I didn’t get one, but I literally JUST paid, I then showed him my bank statement which shows a recent pending transaction for $10, but because it’s pending, does not show an exact time. I told him to pull up the transaction list in their computer (which they 100% have access) he told me he doesn’t have one lol. He told me that the girl working at the front desk would have DEFINITELY made me sign in and given me a receipt (she did neither)… and he was standing there the entire time as well. I told him to check the cameras and I will bet him $10,000 that he will see me tapping my phone and paying the $10, and he said no, pay the $10 again. I’ve never seen a manager of a facility so desperate for $10 in my life and call a recurring customer a liar straight to his face, ever. The least professional human being I’ve ever seen, while simultaneously being very rude and condescending to me and the male employee working there. Below is a photo clearly showing he made me pay twice within 20 minutes. Hey George, do you really want your gym represented in this way? I’ve been coming here...
