Take the Wheel: A Winning Combo of Crispy Wings, Perfect Fries, and Homegrown Vibes Take the Wheel truly hits all the right notes, offering a delightful culinary experience that feels both exciting and comfortably familiar. From the moment you walk in, it's clear this isn't just another wing joint; it's a place where every detail, from the food to the atmosphere, is carefully curated for maximum enjoyment. The star of the show, without a doubt, is their crispy and flavorful wings. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch, giving way to tender, juicy meat bursting with well-balanced flavor. It's clear they've mastered the art of the perfect wing, achieving that coveted exterior crispness without sacrificing any of the succulent interior. Whether you're a purist or prefer a saucy kick, these wings are sure to impress. Equally impressive were the sweet potato fries. Often, sweet potato fries can err on the side of soggy or overly brittle, but Take the Wheel has found the ideal sweet spot. They were wonderfully crunchy, providing that satisfying texture without being so hard that they felt like they'd shatter. This perfect balance made them an excellent complement to the rich wings. Beyond the plate, Take the Wheel cultivates an atmosphere that truly elevates the dining experience. The music is a definite plus, adding a vibrant and enjoyable backdrop to your meal without being overwhelming. And the movie choices felt like you were at home, creating a relaxed and inviting ambiance that encourages you to settle in and savor your time. It's this thoughtful attention to comfort and entertainment that truly sets Take the Wheel apart. In sum, Take the Wheel is a standout establishment that delivers on all fronts. If you're looking for expertly prepared wings, perfectly textured sweet potato fries, and an atmosphere that feels like a cozy night in with friends, this is absolutely the place to go. Highly...
Read moreFound out about this place thru a friend. Drove almost an hour to try it. Was pleasantly surprised. Love the name concept, 1st off.
Ordered the triple basket as shown. You get 4 wings and 4 shrimp and a piece of fish. Price was just under $17 after adding $0.50 for lemon pepper seasoning on the chicken. Wish that would have covered everything. Would have made it more worth it in my opinion.
Wings were good and there was an option for extra crispy which I love. Can't order "all flats" or "all drums" which is a downer but you can do "mostly" on both options. I got 1 drum with my 4 wing set as I usually love all flats. Could taste the lemon pepper seasoning on the wing and they were juicy inside and crispy outside. All is all very good and an 8 out of 10. Could have used more seasoning on the wing itself and not just the LP on the outside.
Shrimp were nice sized and juicy with not much batter on them. They were cooked to perfection. Didn't have too much seasoning on them unfortunately.
Fish was fried crispy with a light cornmeal batter. Not much seasoning on the fish itself but the batter was good.
Fries weren't the freshest but weren't old either. They had some sort of Cajun seasoning on them that wasn't spicy like I would have imagined. They were crinkle which was a nice surprise.
All in all I'd come back again but maybe not drive all the way from where I was to get here just to eat.
P.S. Almont forgot about the peach cobbler. Was pretty good. Wish it was warm instead of cold and that may have made it a little better. Thats shown in the...
Read morePlease forgive me for not posting pics BUT take it from me, make it a point to visit the Take The Wheel food truck!! I visited there yesterday because my hubby wanted lunch. Upon heading to the window, I noticed that there was a pork chop sandwhich on the menu. Now this is like a 3 times a year guilty pleasure of mine because my mom made the best fried pork chop sandwiches during my younger years. So I was interested to see what it was like.
The lady who took my order was so sweet and had such a pleasant disposition about her, she probably could have sold me everything off the menu!
I ordered the fried pork chop sandwich basket, the shrimp pita basket, cheeseburger basket and banana pudding for dessert.. I was provided a buzzer that would let me know when my order was ready. I think my wait time was just right considered the food was made to order. I was impressed by how wonderful everything smelled and presentation was awesome.
Now back to MY pork chop sandwich, I was NOT ready to behold this golden battered fried pork chop that was a nice size, the right amount of mayo and lettuce and a toasted butter bun to house it all. I took just a tiny piece and a few fries before making it out of the parking lot and I was just amazed!
No complaints from my hubby or son with their food but they told me I was on the late show because they had been going there. Well I will be a repeat customer too. These days, it is great to find a business where service and selections are top notch! Thank you Take The Wheel!! I promise to post pics from...
