Edit: I left a scathing review of Wingin'it about 5 mons ago. I never did take management up on their offer to try to make it whole. I feel like there is always a dog and pony show when you have those situations. I did however give it another try at a whim to see if anything had changed. To their credit it really has improved.
The service isn't exactly polished, but the servers seem friendly and there was a young man running around like his hair was on fire running food and drinks out to the tables. I wish I had caught his name, but cudos to him. This time around, the food came out quickly, accurately and we were checked back with to see how things were. The wings are good, the "awesome sauce" (buffalo garlic parm) is probably the best version of that sauce I have had, fried mac and cheese is exceptional. The happy hour prices are really nice and overall the menu is priced in line with the market. I'll be back. Nice work, management team, you have the place running well.
First review:
Wingin it appears to be more than just a name, it might just be the management style. We went in for Lunch, after watching other people who came in after us get theur food, our server checked back to see if she had taken our order, she had, but she had lost it. Ok, it happens. At this point we have been here 30 minutes with no food. We asked if we could get something to snack on while we wait for our order they were going to rush out to us. The manager brought out some chips and salsa and made a half hearted attempt at what I assume was an apology, but she never quite got to that. Thank goodness we asked for that, because it took another 30 minutes to get the food out, which oddly came out without the kids meal. Our 6 year old ordered chicken tenders and fries, which took 37 minutes to hit the table AFTER the reorder. This was "rushed".
I was over halfway through eating my meal when his finally got to us. Common sense here says, we have a kid at the table, whose order takes 5 minutes and 3 adults who have a burger and two orders of wings, lets get the kid taken care of and get his food right out. NOPE. Not what happened. I tend to think they didnt even enter the order (again) because it took so long for it to get it out and when it came out, it was obviously fresh out of the fryer.
The manager, whom I would love to name, but never introduced herself at any point, came back to see how things were. We said it was fine, but the kids meal had to be asked about 3 times to even get it there well after the rest of the food. She turned to basically negotiating on how much of a discount to offer us. She asked if $10 off was good, to which we said, whatever you do is fine, but this was really not a great showing, she ran off saying she would do a little more. At the end of it we got $20 off. I can't imagine ever putting someone of her skill set with people as a front of the house representative in any hospitality organization. Frankly, it was awful and the fact we even were asked to pay after multiple screw ups is embarrassing. The food was fine, nothing to be excited over, but not bad. I'd just like my 2 hours back that it took to get chicken wings for lunch. The place looks to be fairly popular and their beer menu would have had me back for football games etc, but at this point , I...
Read morenot sure if tonight was a bad night, or if this place has just gone downhill. we'd been here before several months ago for lunch and really liked what we ordered - i can't recall exactly, but it was a couple of sandwiches and some wings. but tonight we stopped in for dinner and the food was downright gross. i ordered the grilled chicken and a side of seasoned fries, and my wife ordered the fried shrimp platter with mac-n-cheese bites. we also ordered some pretzel bites for an app and i also tried to order something from the draft beer selection. we got the apps and i was still waiting for quite a while before loudly asking my wife (as the waiter was walking by) "do you think they forgot my beer?" - a moment later he came by and said he was sorry, but he went to go check and it turns out that particular one was all out. i'm not faulting them for something popular selling out, but at least check back on us every now and then and let us know dude. everything tasted like it was microwaved out of a frozen section food bag. the chicken had those fake grill marks and was clearly just a pre-cooked frozen cut, and worst of all was sopping wet and tough as rubber like it was boiled. it was supposed to be seasoned chicken, but if there was any seasoning put on at any point it was clearly washed off during the prep process. the seasoned fries were equally bland with no hint of flavor other than overly greasy like something you would get from a bowling ally or flea market food stand. my wife's shrimp and mac-n-cheese bites, and the pretzel bites all also tasted like store brand frozen food selections that were just heated up in the microwave and not even actually fried. i can't say for sure that everything was microwaved, but it sure tasted that way. when someone came by (not our waiter) to clear up our plates she asked how everything was (i'm assuming she was a manager of some sort) and we bluntly said "kind of gross actually". she asked what was wrong, we explained but mentioned we just wanted to get the check, pay and head out. she ended up taking off the app' for us and apologized, which was very nice, but honestly we weren't looking for any discounts as it wasn't going to get the literal bad tastes out of our mouths. even with the discount and concern from what i assume was a manager, overall we were really disappointed by this visit and not sure if we'd bother to come back if this is the new standard for food taste and service here. at the very least i'd definitely check the recent reviews before considering giving them...
Read moreI'm embarrassed to say we've lived in Fuquay Varina for several years now and have not gone on an explore for a decent wing place. On our local radar has been Wingin'it Bar and Grille so this evenings' dinner location was set. Our first time here, we entered the door for the bar so if you're here just for dinner, go down a few doors and enter. We're kind of early birds so we were quickly seated at the 5pm dinner hour. Our server, Brianna, was helpful in discussing the options, and kindly left the menu with us after ordering so we could view all the offerings. (Too many places literally rip the menu out of your hand after ordering...stop that!) Our appetite is not real adventurous so we both went for the boneless chicken wings with honey bbq and a side of onion straws. I don't think many places can match this restaurant for speed. Our dinners arrived so quickly. And I'm happy to report the chicken was terrific. So tender, succulent, with just the right outside crunch. Generous sides of sauce, ranch, and carrots and celery were perfect. We're going to say bye bye to the local fast food chicken places. The prices here were what I expected; labor, food, rent, supplies are all higher now. But, the prices here are not much more than what one would spend at the fast food places. However, in my opinion, the food tastes so much better here. If you come here, I believe you'll agree that you get good value for your hard earned bucks. You won't break the bank! Thanks owner(s), chef, and Brianna....
