I don’t know exactly what happened to the service at PYT but I’m beyond disappointed, frustrated and to be honest, really angry.
My family has enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the past and we planned to eat there this evening. We know from past experience, you have to be there early so we arrived at 3:45 pm and waited outside for the door to open at 4 pm.
It was myself, my parents, grandmother, aunt, daughter and my boyfriend. The restaurant filled quickly but our waitress got our order and we watched her plug it into the tablet. We had ordered an appetizer, my dad got a bottle of beer and my mom got a sweet tea. The waitress said they were still making the tea and it would be a few minutes, no big deal right? It took 15 minutes, meanwhile my dad never got his bottle of beer! It took another 15 minutes for him to get that!
It’s 4:30 now and I’m not exaggerating, making it up or trying to complain but EVERY other table had gotten their appetizers AND their food, while WE hadn’t even gotten the appetizer yet!! We sat there for a few more minutes while people that came in AFTER us continued to get their meals! We all talked and decided to just leave and go somewhere else and just pay for the drinks and 2 side salads that did come out. By this time, I kid you not, it was 4:45! We all got up to leave and the appetizer was coming to the table, we said just to take it back.
I ended up talking to the manager, Thomas and he said that the smaller orders were prepared first because there orders were entered first. That was a bold faced lie! Our order was entered and people that came in AFTER us got their food promptly! I wasn’t satisfied with that explanation and asked to see the owner. I was told the owner was cooking and could not, would not come out to talk. Reality…..the only thing he was cooking was OUR meals because EVERYONE else had their food!! To say I was frustrated, is an understatement! Especially after a couple sodas, sweet tea, a bottle of beer and 2 side salads came to $36!!!
To get some lame excuse like that from the manager is pitiful and the fact that the owner had a table full of people walk out because of poor service and wouldn’t even come out to talk about it is horrible!!
Needless to say we will not be returning to PYT after that experience. Maybe they’ll start to get the message that they need to take better care of their customers, you know the ones paying the bills and keeping the business open, or they’ll find themselves without customers!!! It was...
Read moreOur first visit tonight. Not sure what to expect but I'm glad we went. As far as the I'm concerned the place could be a bit brighter but that is my only complaint. We ordered the Salmon and the Beef Tips. Both dishes we're served hot and presented in basic way on the plate. Our sides were the mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli. The Salmon was cooked perfect, the mashed sweet potatoes nicely sweet with just a hint of cinnamon. Beef tips we're cooked exactly as ordered and tender. The broccoli could be cut with a fork. Our food was flavored very well and we left not feeling overly full which, is a good feeling for us. I give it a strong four stars and it would be five if it was a bit brighter and had WiFi. I suggest you stop in and enjoy yourself. There was a bit of a wait at 600 pm on Saturday expect that unless you want to eat at the bar and we did that. Nice polite staff and service was great. UPDATE: I went back with my family and was not disappointed. A lot of times new places open and are really good only to let the newness wear off and have problems. PYT did not let me down. We were there on a Thursday and there was a small wait. If it's good then people will come and wait to eat. Good eatery in downtown Gaffney. ANOTHER UPDATE: Family went again and again our meal was great. Packed house, so much so the six of us had to sit at the bar. I am attaching pic of the special that night (3 filet medallions with 4 shrimp on a bed of Cajun spice Alfredo sauce), a rack of ribs with a skewer of shrimp and a ribeye. The only draw back I see here is the size of the place. Small and cozy so get there early. We went this time on Wednesday night and it was packed. Go...
Read moreI want to give a better review because the food is great and our waiter was pleasant. However, they need a front of house manager or supervisor to assist the young ladies working the check in. They were clueless on how to sit a group of 6 people and a baby. We arrived around 6:25 and our wait time was said to be around 40 minutes. Understandably so it’s a Friday night. No problem at all until tables started opening up and we were never seated. The table on the end was open and 2 booths. Now mind you we had waited patiently for over and hour and twenty minutes as it was around 7:40 before we ask to be seated separately after getting passed over 4 or 5 times and we were told that we couldn’t sit across from each other because it was 2 different waitresses sections and they didn’t understand how they would take our order. After explaining we had 2 different checks and didn’t mind to split it up accordingly we still did not get seated. 10 more minutes went by and I ask for a manager only to get told the bartender would be over to speak with us. He was busy as he was the only one at the bar and he assured me we would be seated next. Which we were not but it wasn’t very long after and we got sat at the table and booth (the same ones we ask about 10 minutes prior). The waitress that took our order was very pleasant, she kept our drinks filled and checked on us multiple times.
All the ladies were young and maybe this is their first job but they need some supervision. Or at least someone who can handle seating guests in an...
