I actually found this place entirely by accident. I was looking for another business one day, and in this area, I lost my Verizon cell coverage and had to guess on a turn since my GPS was not tracking. I turned around in the Gainesville Seafood Market parking lot and thought I would return to check it out at some point.
Wow, what a fantastic find! Upon entering it looked like they were cleaning up and done for the day with only one table being occupied. With the lack of a crowd, I was slightly hesitant to order but was immediately greeted with a sample of the soup of the day, a lobster bisque that was off the chain. I ordered my favorite, a fried oyster plate that comes with two hushpuppies, fries and slaw.
As my order was being prepared fresh behind the counter, I looked around at the fresh seafood counter with a variety of fish and shellfish packed on ice. The dining area is large and roomy and spotless. I found a table and sat to wait for my order which took seven or eight minutes to be brought to me steaming hot.
Oysters: My Oysters were large, plump and juicy. Perfectly breaded and fried to a golden brown. I have paid much more for lower quality oysters at some fancy seafood restaurants. I have to say, I was not expecting a meal like this in Gainesville, GA but they won me over with the first bite. The meal comes with tartar sauce and another dipping sauce, but I did not want to mask the taste of the oyster and ate them plain.
Fries: The fries were the only thing typical of a seafood restaurant at this price point, good but a little dull and more of a filler.
Cole Slaw: This really surprised me, the slaw was a blend of cabbage that had a very light mayonnaise dressing. The slaw had a great taste allowing the cabbage to be the dominant item without being masked or hidden by the dressing. Probably one of the best slaw dishes I have had in a long time.
I received enough food with the small Oyster plate to more than adequately fill me and leave me well satisfied without eating most the slaw or fries. The service was top notch, the lady behind the counter came out multiple times to ask how everything was.
I only wish I could give them more than five stars for what I received. A place I will definitely return to and bring...
Read moreThis restaurant is located inside one-third of a grocery store. A true restaurant atmosphere is practically nonexistent. It is very open and casual with access to the grocery store at all times. The area known as the restaurant is more like a designated eating area. It is set up as a place to sit down and eat what you order, but there is very little ambiance. The restaurant is based on a serve yourself set up. No one really waits on you or has a role in this capacity. It is not designed to be that kind of restaurant. They have a nice, clean area with restaurant tables and chairs. It feels more like a lunch counter type of place rather than a restaurant. You order at the register from the displayed menu. You get your drink from the selection of beverages found on ice, also located at the register. Your table is your own choice. When your food is ready, they bring it to you. If you have need of anything, you can tell the server when your food arrives, go to the register and request it, or visit a counter area at the side lined with commonly needed and requested items. The food I had was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The portions were generous, and the quality was fresh. I will definitely return. In addition to selecting seafood for restaurant dining, they offer a wide variety of raw seafood and fish for sale that you can purchase and cook for yourself at home. When I went to this restaurant, it was not crowded, and in spite of its being located inside of a grocery store, it was not loud. There was no obnoxious fishy odor, and everything was very clean. As I said earlier, I will return. It...

Whenever I'm in the Gainesville Georgia area. I like to go to Atlanta highway seafood. However, there are certain days, like saturday, when they are not open. So an inquiry with Google indicated this place Gainesville seafood and eatery would be a good alternative.
Google was right. This place has a menu very similar to Atlanta highway seafood restaurant. However, they actually have a lot more selection and choices.
In both restaurants I usually order the shrimp meal. I noticed at this restaurant when I order a large shrimp I actually get a little bit more food than I do at Atlanta highway seafood restaurant. The shrimp here doesn't quite have the same flavoring, but it still tastes very good.
Usually a shrimp meal with large shrimp and something to drink is about $19, which is pretty equivalent to the other restaurant. The one thing that is different here, is they have a larger eating area, so with the covid pandemic around, I don't mind eating inside at this location. I can easily find an area inside the restaurant where there is not a lot of foot traffic going past me while I enjoy my meal. Atlanta highway seafood restaurant has the different options, and that they have an outdoor fresh air patio. So when I eat there that's where I seat myself.
Bottom line, if you want good shrimp and a nice quantity for a reasonable price this Gainesville seafood and eatery is a...
