Hook Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Gainesville

My husband and son went through the drive through a couple of days ago, and they ordered a #7 and #8. The cost should have been no more than $27. My husband periodically checks his banking app, and while doing so, found that he was charged $263.22. He called and spoke to Max, who advised that we come in. We were on the road heading back from getting our daughter back to her military base. After driving several hours, we made it back to Gainesville. My husband went in and I waited in the car. After about 5 minutes, I went in. My husband was holding the phone of the cashier and was talking to the owner on speaker who confirmed that his son was working the drive-thru when the transaction was made and that he would need to check with his merchant before a refund could be processed. The young lady in the lobby overheard our conversation stated that she only uses cash here for this very reason.While all this is going on there was another young lady in the lobby who'd placed an order and there was a lady in the drive-thru also. As we are wrapping up our call with the owner, the young lady in the lobby yells to someone in the kitchen that she saw "what he'd done." Us confused turned and looked at her and she then said that she saw the older cook that wears the hat kick a piece of chicken that he'd dropped, picked it up and put it into her tray. She then requested her money back, and the lady in the drive-thru heard the entire interaction as the window was open the whole time. She also requested her money back. The even stranger thing is the cook that drpped the chicken didn't acknowledge what he'd done, and both he and the other gentleman that were cooking kept cooking as if nothing had happened. And I felt so sorry for the young man at the counter who had us there whom he was trying to help and to have this happen all at the same time. If you eat at this place, there is no telling how many times a piece of your food has been dropped onto the floor and was still put...

Stopped at a neighborhood spot today on the way back to Tampa Bay. We got a variety of items here & I'll be honest.

Chicken, shrimp and catfish are good, scallops are iffy. They do a dry fried chicken, everything is fried and no option for wet or tossed chicken wings in sauce or something. The shrimp was good, old bay might work with you brought some with you. My scallops were over salted and my catfish wasn't seasoned enough. Scallops were actually rubbery as heck, out of all the items I got this was a mistake. Just because it's all fired don't mean it's all good. The hot sauce was good with everything but it was still just a hot sauce. Don't forget to ask for all your sauces and tartar sauce or don't expect it in your bag. Also if you wanted to know, the fries are actually under being basic and I feel like they are just sort of there as filler, so do your own fries.

I'm not sure if there's no tables because they don't want us inside or they don't want us eating there, but we took a quick pic. Stick to the wings & shrimp here and I think you'll be good. Catfish and other fish will do if you don't got another option and/or if you adjust the seasoning yourself and sauce...

Great food and would love to give 5 stars but my reviews are always honest and based on the total experience not just the food.i ordered the 20pc shrimp special and a side of mushrooms. The food was great across the board. I see some complaints about too much salt but guys that's not salt. That is a seasoning blend that's a lil salty and sweet at the same time but it's very visible because that shake it on after cooking so you see it. It's delicious and I want a bottle of it to take home. If you think this food is bland or over salted I just worry about you. Now that being said let's talk about the elephant in the room. Cleanliness. I can't speak for the kitchen area bc I wasn't invited back there and you weren't neither but the outside is in bad shape as is the front counter areas. To the management.. you have a great little place here.. Cleanliness is what people see first so fix it. Repainting would help. I gave only 4 stars bc of the state of the visible areas inside and out. Should be a rave 5 star review. Fix the problems and it will be.. the food... don't you dare change...
