Mother's Pub & Grill North — Restaurant in Gainesville

Absolutely horrible service tonight went in with a party of four was told we needed to go to the pool room was advised no service there would have to order at the bar after waiting at the bar for 10 or 15 minutes we would get our order taken when given our order they managed to mess that up I ordered drinks no problem there other than it took 20 or 30 minutes ordered appetizers waited 20 minutes then ordered our main course while waiting for our appetizers only one main course came out what they served us was definitely not shepherd's pie somebody threw meat vegetables together Heated it up and it was definitely not shepherd's pie. 8 to 10 minutes later or appetizers come out. 10 or 15 minutes after that the main course comes out with three of them. I understand it was the first football game of the season talk to the manager was not real satisfied with what he said. He advised me they never have a server in the pool room quote-unquote I happen to take a picture of the sign that says Welcome to our pool room if you need a server please let us know.NOT

I would definitely not recommend this restaurant on a game day it was absolutely horrible. Will never ever be back on a game day. The manager did try and make it right he wanted to give me 50% off of my bill. I'm sorry as a manager I probably would have given somebody a couple of drinks free in order to try to make amends. I refuse to pay 50% I gave him 100% of the bill. But because I didn't know any staff member it was just who I could grab to put my order in I decided not to leave a tip. Definitely would not recommend this on a game day absolutely terrible the manager does not have a clue what a game day in Gainesville Florida is like for a restaurant / Pub Sports Bar. The downtown mothers bar is okay never had a problem with them. I have left my name and telephone number for the owner to give me a call we will see what happens it only took me asking five times to see the manager I doubt the owner of the pub will get in touch with me. Just so you know we specifically came in to be able to eat dinner watch the football game and we drove 40 minutes to be able to come and enjoy ourselves. That lasted up to about halfway of the second quarter before I was so thoroughly upset I had to leave I still don't know who won the Gator...

So my wife and I decided to check out the new mothers pub location and we were both terribly unsatisfied. It started off by trying to find the damn entrance to the place which in my opinion is in a strange place. We walked inside and there is a sign that said please set yourself which is no problem we sat in a booth and waited about 10 minutes for someone to even notice we come inside there is a few people there so I just assumed they just didn’t see us and we ordered our food and drinks. I ordered the Mac attack burger and my wife ordered medium garlic wings. We then waited 30 minutes for are food i was honestly about to leave about the time I decided I was going to our food arrived .The waitressed expressed her apologies and said something happened in the kitchen she then quickly walked away without filling my water. Now I ordered my Mac attack burger with Texas toast the bread wasn’t even toasted it was soft and gross looking the mac & cheese on top of the burger was cold like it was just in a refrigerator the burger itself had no season well maybe some pepper and was greasy as hell the best part of my meal was the freezer burnt tater tot’s. As for my wife’s meal it come out in a plate I’m never seen wings and a plate before it was definitely not medium and was saturated in watery sauce. We finally got the waitress to come back over and explain the situation she didn’t seem to care too much but offered to take the burger bag and to give her more sauce which didn’t m we finally got the waitress to come back over and explain the situation she didn’t seem to care too And offerd to warm it up amd bring her more sause we decided to just try and eat some we were both pretty tired of it at that point. After we ate we got the check that was very pricey for the food quality so as i went to sign the bill the waitress walked off without handing me a pin and she was nowhere to be found nor was anyone else that work there. So after about 15 minutes of waiting for someone to arrive I walked over to where the waitresses keep the menus to see if there was a pen left her there which there was none I did find some crayons for kids so I had to use that to sign the damn thing needless to say she did not get a tip and I will never return. Long story short: I paid more than expected while getting less food than expected.

The menu online states that 40 wings cost $30 and come with a side of carrots and celery. You also get ranch. I called and ordered 40 boneless wings for takeout. The problems I encountered are below-

I got bone-in instead of boneless. Beyond personal preference, it is much easier to feed small children boneless wings. I wish I got what I ordered.

I did not get the celery or carrots. Not sure if this was an accident or if they do not include these sides for takeout.

I was charged $36 instead of $30. I have double checked the menu online and I do not see anything about an upcharge for take out. I also was not told about an upcharge when ordering. I expect an upcharge if I use a service like DoorDash, but that wasn’t the case here. I will say that the wings were wrapped in foil and placed in trays, but I do not think that this justifies a 20% increase in price for the consumer. Especially if I am not taking up a table or a waitress’s attention. I think either the menu online is outdated or I was charged more for the packaging. If the former, that is understandable and I hope the owner sees this so it can be fixed. If it is the latter, the price increase far outweighs the additional cost to the business. Again, especially if I am not taking up a table (or getting the celery and carrots). If simple foam boxes would bring the cost down, do that. Customers should also be told about this when ordering to avoid the surprise.
