UPDATE: This location has really gone downhill fast. The biggest thing is the A/C is always on full blast and it doesn't appear that the heat is ever used at this location. The ingredients selection is always cross contaminated with ingredients being mixed from dropping them in each container. The tables are almost always not clean as well as them being out of at least 1 or 2 things every time you come in and the employees are less than accommodating as they simply say "Yeah we are out of (beans) or (rice)" like it's no big deal.
For the higher prices on the menu at this Gainesville location, this location is sadly not the norm for Surcheros. I'm not sure if it's simply a different owner than most, but this is not the usual at all and really a disgrace for Surcheros. Something will need to change or this location will sadly close its' doors.
Original from Grand Opening: The new Surcheros is great! Founder Luke did a tremendous job with the grand opening along with his whole team! It was a wonderful day welcoming Surcheros to Gainesville! It was just the same great taste as you’d expect from Surcheros.
Here’s a trick/tip for you! Get the nachos in a to go box, chips on the side, and you get your best bang for your buck including a cheese dip! Give Surcheros in Gainesville a shot and you won’t be...
Read moreWent in to pickup an order on a Sunday afternoon. Three employees working that were pleasant enough. No other customers in the store and no pickup order on the shelf. Food was ready about ten minutes after the app estimated it’d be ready. No big deal. Soda and salsa area were pretty messy. A few tables hadn’t been cleaned but again, no big deal. As I was walking out with my order, someone walked in with a DoorDash bag and all I could hear him say was “we couldn’t eat either of them” so my expectations were already low. The two star rating is because the food just wasn’t good. Every bite had super hard and dried up rice that seemed like it was scraped off the bottom of a rice cooker. Steak tasted like three day old steak that had been microwaved. Spicy garlic salsa was great, tomatillo salsa had zero flavor. Queso was fine. My (very small) portion of chip was unsalted while my wife’s portion was too salty to finish. No extra chips given with a large queso seems weird.
This is Gainesville. We’ve got too many burrito options for anyone to waste their money going here. Just go to Chipotle, or better yet, El Maguey or Señior Fiesta. I hope the owner is able to make implement some changes and keep this...
Read moreSeem to be working out the new restaurant kinks, but overall a good experience. The staff is clearly working so hard, and I hope that is acknowledged and appreciated. The place was sparkling clean and everything seemed fresh, but the restaurant was slammed with Door Dash/Eats orders. IMO, in-store guests should be prioritized over app orders, but we were told it would be a few minutes so they could get caught up on app orders. Adjusting prep times on the apps would help with this. It seems silly to me to have unhappy app customers, unhappy app drivers, and unhappy in-store customers, all while your staff is working as fast as they possibly can. I also noticed staff had to come out to the salsa bar to make salsa cups for their app orders...good on them for doing the right thing but that's ridiculous to slow their process down for that. Could there be a salsa bar behind the line for the staff for online orders? Or a stockpile of ready to go salsa cups as part of prep for the day? Just some suggestions. Surcheros is such a great concept and we love the Alpharetta location so I just want to see this location succeed and be able to retain...
