On 8/8/25, I placed an order in-person with one of the store managers, AJ, for a 2-tier cake to be delivered to my wedding reception lunch less than 15min away at 12:30pm on 8/30/25. I also confirmed that I would be able to drop off some loose stem flowers the day before on 8/29/25 to have them put on the cake as decoration the morning of the delivery. I confirmed the delivery address that day. I reconfirmed the delivery address on the afternoon of 8/29/25 when I dropped off the loose stem flowers and spoke directly with AJ, asking that the flowers be placed on the cake the next morning. I reconfirmed the delivery address yet again on the evening of 8/29/25 when I received a phone call from AJ letting me know that my cake was complete, along with a text message sent to me of the decorated cake. I questioned the flowers being put on the cake so early. AJ assured me that one of the bakers there has “done this before” and was confident the flowers would hold up. Despite my strong hesitation and even my mentioning that my wedding bouquet was made of the same exact flowers, which the florist I got them from insisted that I NOT put even my bouquet in the fridge, AJ was firm and confident that the cake would be fine being placed in the chiller for a little while then in the fridge overnight.
The next day, when I arrived at my reception lunch around 1:30pm, I was shocked to not see the cake already on display. When I called the bakery in the middle of my wedding reception, to ask about the cake, I spoke with an employee (who I unfortunately did not catch the name of) that gave ME attitude about my cake not being delivered. I could not believe the lack of accountability that this employee had as a representative of the business. I was told that my cake was ordered as a delivery but that the delivery was never scheduled by the person that took my order, however, it was phrased in a way as though it was my fault because there was so much tone and attitude in this employee’s voice. After a bit of back and forth, the employee recited to me the full address of where the cake was supposed to be delivered, and yet still did not take ownership of the error. Finally, I stated, “so I ordered a 2-tier wedding cake to be delivered, that you just confirmed the delivery address for, but it was not SCHEDULED to be delivered. Was I supposed to schedule my cake to be delivered?” It was finally then that the employee owned that an error was made on their part. I then asked how this would be rectified and what the ETA would be to deliver the cake. The employee offered to throw in a free bundlet for the error, to which I gave a big no thank you to, when what I really should have been offered was a full refund.
Finally, when the cake was delivered 2 hours after the scheduled delivery time, half the flowers on the cake were dead and the rest were wilting and turning brown as a result of putting the flowers on the cake prematurely and being left in the fridge. I have been coming to this location in Gaithersburg for 3+ years, buying cake from this shop almost monthly for my employees’ birthdays and other special occasions. I will never ever ever return to this location. This was one of the most awful customer service experiences I have ever had in my life, with a complete lack of accountability for the error that the shop made. No manager came on the phone to apologize to me for the error, nor was a follow-up phone call ever made to apologize. And on top of that I have photos of a wedding cake with dead and dying flowers on it as a forever memory.
Attached are photos of the cake the evening before (immediately after the cake was decorated, before it was placed in the chiller/fridge) on the left and then a photo of the cake the next afternoon after it was delivered, on the right. Note to NBC: Do NOT decorate cakes with fresh flowers until just before delivering OR just say that you can’t decorate with fresh flowers at all when asked to save your customers from this...
Read moreNothing Bundt Cakes = NEVER AGAIN BUNDT CAKES I will never again do business with this establishment based on my recent experience with their product followed by an accusation that “someone in my household may have introduced a foreign object into a cake purchased from their store in Gaithersburg”
I purchased a red velvet Bundt cake for my wife’s birthday on April 1, 2023. We cut 4 slices later on in the evening as we celebrated. The kids didn’t like it, so I ate 3 slices and my wife ate 1 slice. On believe Monday when eating a slice we discovered a plastic object in the cake. Being my wife and kids were leaving for spring break I threw the cake out. Wife said I should still tell the bakery about it. I blew it off until my called while on spring break and asked if I told the store….. and I had not.
What follows is my communication with the bakery on April 7th.
(Email from Andrew the customer) Hi Sandy, As discussed over the phone a yellowplastic item was found in the red velvet bundt cake purchased Saturday, April 1, 2023. I purchased the birthday cake for my wife sometime between 10:30am - 12pm.
Regards,
Andrew
(Email from Bundt) Hello Sir,
T hank you for reaching out to us. We have shared the picture you sent with our management, baking, frosting as well as crafting staff -- and we do not have anything in our bakery that in anyway resembles the item pictured - so we are unsure how something like that could have gotten into your cake.
Perhaps this was something introduced post-bakery pick up as you stated there was at least 24 hours between pick up time and the time you cut the cake.
Nevertheless, we do regret that you could not enjoy your cake regardless of what happened. If the cake has not been eaten, you may return it to the bakery today before 5:30PM and we will provide a replacement 8" red velvet cake for you, as a courtesy. Please send us a picture of the cake as soon as possible (but before returning to the bakery) so that we may verify it is eligible for this courtesy replacement.
If the cake is not eligible for a courtesy replacement, we are also happy to offer you a 10% discount off a future purchase made before April 30, 2023 as an alternative.
Thanks A Bundt!

My intent was only to inform you that the piece of plastic was found in the cake. That’s it . I did not, have not and will not insinuate I want a replacement or refund. The cake was thrown out once the item was discovered. My wife advised me to notify the store just as an fyi. You then turn around and infer the item “may have been introduced after purchase”……..Wow. Needless to say I will never again do business with your establishment and also tell the person that referred me of...
Read moreI LOVE nothing Bundt cakes. Their cakes are very delicious. As far as this location goes, I will not be taking my business here. My family and I have had a handful of issues at this store. From receiving the wrong flavors when we ordered and refusing to take responsibility for it or fix the problem, to waiting very long for our order to be ready. The last straw was definitely when I went to retrieve my husband’s birthday Bundt. I have gotten my free Bundt cake from different locations in the past and they have NEVER asked me for the email that expresses you get a free Bundt cake. What they have asked me for was my ID, to ensure it was my birthday and that I wasn’t coming a week after (which is typically when the deal expires.) I walked in with my husband’s ID as he was waiting in the car since he wasn’t feeling great, to prove that today was indeed his birthday. The employee, and another person in the back, then expressed to me that unfortunately without the email, they couldn’t give me the cake. JUST before walking in, my mother in law warned me about having issues with the free cake and she was right. Instead of making a man’s birthday a little more special, they got caught up in the technicalities. I’m very sad and disappointed as it is a convenient location and their cakes...
