I've traveled past this restaurant for the last 20 plus years and often thought of stopping. This morning was an opportune time to do that. Nice little restaurant, cheerful atmosphere and looking forward to just a relaxing time. Waiter promptly came with our drinks and took our order. And that is where our pleasant expectations took a different direction. There were several empty tables when we arrived and it appeared they were not overly busy. However we waited to get our breakfast of eggs and scrapple, pancakes and scrapple, for 50 minutes. We were seated by the wall and the waiters path took them directly past our table which they passed many times. After 20 or 30 minutes another waiter asked if we had given our order. We confirmed that we had, she went back to the kitchen and there appeared to be some confusion although we could not hear what they were saying. 10 minutes later our waiter returned and informed us our order was up next. When we received our order I asked her politely if there was some problem or if we had done something wrong. Understandably she was a little flustered but replied no but that they were backed up because of orders and I responded that there were several tables that came in after we did, had received their food, and one party had already left. She replied something about some foods take longer to prepare. She was still smiling and pleasant. The food was mediocre at best. Three pancakes thinner than one pancake we are normally accustomed to and rather doughy as well. We had observed somebody else returning their pancakes because they were also unfinished. Scrapple okay as I like it crispy or soft but it was barely warm and the potatoes were not much more than just cooked potatoes with no browning or crispiness at all. By this time I admit we were finding it difficult to be positive but we were attempting to make the best of a bad situation. When we finished our meal I went to find our bill as no one had returned to ask if everything was okay, and I should add I saw her asking numerous other customers after she served them if everything was fine. It took a little time for her to come back and ring up our bill. After I paid I informed her in a friendly manner that I was not leaving a tip and the reason being that we were not happy with the service. There was another waiter standing beside her acknowledging what had happened, hearing our conversation and aware of the circumstances. I stated that I would like to return but asked if they could give me a reason to. They were like " you need to talk to the manager" which I replied that I would be happy to do. However, after what I thought was a little long, another individual came back and said she had to step across to the house and would be a little till she returned.! Maybe or maybe not legitimate but by this time I was admittedly a little frustrated and I replied there was little need to stay longer as it appeared I was getting nowhere. She asked what I was unhappy about so she could inform the owner/manager. I repeated the reasons to her again as briefly as possible. I then left. I am aware that things happen and I can certainly overlook that but was hoping for some acknowledgment that the service we received was not normal and possibly be offered a coupon/ voucher for another visit which I would very much like to do. Subs that I saw look fantastic!!
So at this point not sure if I'll return and pass it off as a fluke or become irritated every...
Read moreMy Family and I were on vacation and wanted to have breakfast out at a local place and Twinnys seemed good as any. Our wait time to order was about 15 min, our waitress was polite but we had to ask for coffee refills, there a total of 9 other customers in the dining room. Our food took 38 minutes to come out, I thought there must be something wrong with the pancakes as they are paper thin and undercooked with wet batter still inside the paper thin pancakes, I hate to even call them pancakes because they are more like a plane wrap tortilla. I asked the waitress to return them as they are undercooked, paper thin and tasted horrible in my personal opinion. Then, an older woman with glasses and a loud voice came back to our table and very loudly told my family and I that those flapjack things were pancakes that people come there for, its what Twinnys is known for and they will not be taking the pancake order off my bill so I said fine I will pay, I said this to get her to go away but her ego was to damaged to accept the fact that someone does not like there style pancakes so she continued to say the same thing over and over, this is what we're famous for, for 45 years, that means nothing to me or my family. They also kept our untouched undercooked pancakes and still left them on my bill..lmfao..unbelievable !! Take away, customer is always right when approached politely which is how I live my life, as someone in the resturant business this lady has learned nothing in 45 years and takes everything to personal. They also made us wait for 15 min for our check with only about 6 people left, My daughter is a waitress at a very busy resturant and said the staff will make problem customers wait for thier checks, this is not fair but its life. So, I had to ask for the check, which our waitress would not bring it back because of who knows why, probably because we didnt like the flat jacks... anyway I have no issues with anyone on this planet, some folks are to wrapped up in their own world they forget how to see. I left her a nice tip for the incomplete meal and rude attitude her boss lady gave us as none of that was her fault. I will never return to this resturant again, its a shame how people are these days, the food is not worth the ride the wait or the money, cook at home you will enjoy it more when you have that love cooked into your food that you will not get at Twinnys. I have been in customer service for over 28 years and do my job well while helping people solve thier problems. This was not the case at Twinnys, your on your own like being in a 3rd world country. Learn by this review as it cost me 65 bucks for the lesson of never return to eat at...
Read moreWe have driven by on many trips through town but yesterday was the first time. It was well worth the stop. The traveler should know it is small inside. When we got inside there was only 1 empty table and the couple in front of us for seated but since it was a larger table they offered to share the other end. It was a lovely gesture and we got to meet and speak with a nice couple. We were well attended to from the drink and food orders to the multiple checkups in between. Now let's talk food - Our table mates ordered the crab bisque which came piping along with the rockfish basket and chicken salad sandwich. My hubby and I ordered the medium cheesesteak (they offer 3 sizes of subs - small, medium, and large). There is a lot of meat in the medium, we could have done the small or shared the medium, especially since we got an order of fries too. The bread was fantastic, fresh & held up nicely with steak, fried onions and all the extras. Overall, a great sub. Important to note: CASH or check only as forms of payment. They do offer carryout with picnic...
