We stopped here for brunch on a Saturday around 11. I love the way they had pastries and slices of pie in a refrigerated display like an old fashioned diner. The service was fast and friendly. Our server, Samantha, was knowledgeable and helpful. She seemed a little frazzled, but that’s understandable considering how new the restaurant was.
I ordered the Monte Cristo. It was incredible! The sweet chili dipping sauce was perfect and added a little kick. The fries were perfectly crispy! My husband got a Build Your Own Omelette and the fillings were generous. It could have benefited from greens on the side. The drink menu is extensive and affordable! We both got lattes.
Our biggest complaint was that the restaurant was LOUD. There is basically nothing to absorb sound and the tables are fairly small and close together so all the conversations filled up the space. There was music playing, but I couldn’t identify a song the entire time I was there because the other sounds drowned it out. Ceiling panels or some similar method of sound dampening would work wonders for their environment.
Additionally, some artwork on the walls would be a great addition. There were only a few coffee-themed pieces on the wall near the kitchen and they looked generic: like something from Home Goods or Hobby Lobby. Connecting with a local artist for unique pieces would go a long way in adding character, since most of the restaurant was black and white.
All in all, I highly recommend giving them a try! It’s worth it for the...
Read moreCafe 393 is a great place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Our experience was nothing short of fantastic. The menu is varied, unique, and affordable. The quality and quantity of our meal was phenomenal. My wife's breakfast was typical - eggs, bacon, sourdough toast, and fried potatoes. However, the eggs were deliciously fluffy; her bacon was made to order (who does that?); the sourdough toast was crunchy, yet chewy on the inside; her potatoes were perfectly fried, a crispy outside and amazingly buttery inside, not greasy whatsoever! I had the HappyJack. Itmade me happyas well! An awesome (and fun) pretzel bun w/ a deliciously cook sausage link, not a rincky-dink breakfast sausage link, but sort of a medium size kielbasa style split lengthwise, with Monterey Jack cheese; and hash brown casserole (a mandatory must). The place was hoping, so be patient during those times, it's well worth the wait. Finally, our late breakfast was served to us by a lovely young lady, who spoke with everyone she was serving. Phoebe, always made eye contact and served with a smile. She was kind, attentive, professional, and engaging. We were aso impressed how other servers assisted one another, e.g., one topped off our drinks, because she noticed. Another made small talk just because she was there. It's the little things that make a big difference. We'll be back. Cafe 393 just acquired two...
Read moreTo be a new place it was dirty looking inside. Walls had black marks and food splatter when you are standing at the hostess stand. We waited over 45 mins for our food while others who came in later got theirs and done before we got ours. Waitress noticed and asked if we had food yet. Then later when we received our food the meat in the omelette was black and crispy where they rushed it. The waffle was cold. When the presumed to be manager came to the table made it worse. She has attitude from the beginning and offered to send a cinnamon roll to table. We turned down the offer. Her attitude got worse and she would only reply "sweet" to everything we tried to say. We said we were only wanting to make her aware of the situation and did not want a discount or more food. She interrupted and said "sweet" for about the 6th time and walked off with us still talking. We can on assume it was a manager. Everyone else had on black cafe shirts but she had on pink sweat shirt and leggings like someone would wear to lounge around the house. I noticed that they did discount food even though we didn't ask. But attitude was terrible. Very poor customer service...
