UPDATE: They permanently closed down effective May 2024
I have been waiting to try this little hidden gem. It’s located very close to 386 and they are only open Fri-Sat-Sun. I’m always looking for soul food places in my little town. I haven’t lived here long and only venture out when I’m hungry. That being said this place is right around the corner, back in the cut. Two streets over, 3 minute drive, and I didn’t even know.
I like their concept; a meat & 2 or AYCE buffet. It reminds me of those Sundays Church service where you get to eat down stairs when there’s a visiting church. The set up is nice.
Our family ordered Chicken and Dumplings, greens, Mac-n-cheese, meat loaf, green beans and hot water cornbread . Everything was really good. Some of the food had great flavors just different than what my pallet is used
to. I will definitely go back.
Their menu changes daily. I want to try mostly everything except the pork. They also serve chitterlings and pigs feet, for those interested. I’ll never review them, never had them never will.
NOTICE: They do not accept cash; card only. I didn’t learn that until we...
Read moreThe food was good and the environment was nostalgic and reminded me of church potlucks from when I was a child. It wasn't just due to the restaurant being inside an old church but more so bc the food was similar to what most Southern Grandmothers cook on a Sunday. Turkey and dressing, baked ham, fried chicken with mac & cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes and my very favorite, Hot Water CORNBREAD! Desert was either Blackberry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake. The only dislike I had was the only drink options you had was sweet tea, fruit tea or lemonade. Don't get me wrong, I very much like all three but I would've preferred Coke Cola, Mt Dew Etc.. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming and several women who I'm not sure if they were regulars there or possibly owners/staff, but they sang church songs in the back of the restaurant and that really made for some beautiful entertainment. It was definitely a place I'll return to again. Some may think $13.50 per person is a little high but when you consider that the drink is included its actually not bad. 4 stars...
Read moreWe've eaten here a couple of times in the past but haven't been in awhile so we thought we'd have lunch here today. On Sunday they have an all you can eat buffet and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they do a meat and 2. Today they had fried chicken, fried catfish, brisket and meatloaf along with yam's, green beans, mac'n cheese mashed potatoes and corn bread. Dessert was a table full of cakes and pies. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly, it is a seat yourself and the all you can eat is $15 a person. We definitely need to eat here more often... If you are in town it's definitely worth a trip. Oh and they also...
