Have visited here twice now for dinner. I love sashimi and was a big fan of Zutto's downtown as many of the Japanese visiting Micron would say that's where they preferred to go, but they closed, I'm speculating because perhaps they didn't "americanize" their food enough? Also, my family and I lived in Japan for 18 months where as you can imagine, the sashimi is outstanding. So back to Fumiyama's.. I really enjoy their sashimi as well as it's presentation. The portions are generous (no tiny bite-sized pieces of fish here).. and fresh. The pricing is very reasonable too and the wait staff has been prompt and friendly. It hasn't been crowded and I hope that changes because I don't want to lose ANOTHER place to get great Sashimi. I typically have miso soup and edamame as well. The first time I went, the edamame was partly cold but still good. The second time it was fine. Miso was always good. Thy have a Sushi bar at which you can sit. The restaurant is not "fancy" but quite nice, clean and open. There is a large TV but it is not really tuned to anything interesting and is more for ambiance (which is fine my me.. after all, it's not a sports bar). They also serve wine/beer/sake but I don't recall if there was an option for alcohol.. sorry. Also, I can't comment on their "cooked" foods as I have not partaken in those yet. I'll definitely be...
Read moreI have been coming here for years since it was first brought here by my cousin, who lives in Boise. This is a more relaxed restaurant with a family feel to it and reasonable prices.
It has a very calm vibe and its a good place if you like an atmosphere and that doesn't get terribly loud. It's in a convenient location if you are doing some shopping at the mall or other retailers close by.
This would be a nice place to have a first date or a relaxed dinner with friends or family. I don't think I would recommend talking really young children here, but older kids over 7 or 8 would probably just fine. They also have the fun separate rooms with the sliding shoji screen doors if you want to have a more intimate dinner.
The food is always solidly good and the service is excellent. I usually enjoy getting one of the Bento Box dinners that has a little bit of everything in it. I really like that their tempura is light and crispy. A lot of times tempura can be tough or the oil hasn't been changed. However, the tempura and other fried things here are really well done. I have had the sushi in the past and it is good quality for a landlocked...
Read moreIt had been a super-long time since I had sushi. Life circumstances and such. I had always liked Fujiyama Boise, but this time around lifted my spirits completely. Authentic is such a relative term nowadays, so I can't comment on that, however... On a Friday evening, arguably one of the most busy nights I have seen here, I was seated immediately. As if knowing my melancholy mood, my server immediately put me in a good mood with appropriate jokes and on-point recommendations.
When my food arrived. Oh man, why don't I come here more often? I already like sushi, even in the worst of circumstances.
Not to drama, but I really kinda needed this tonight. Maybe it was just the right timing, so I'll grant you that, but even so, my food was fantastic! The server's recommendation was on POINT(If you're wondering, I had wanted to try something based around eel), and I was not disappointed. Also, my meal was served surprisingly fast, and way before I expected it.
I am so glad I made the impulsive decision to eat here...
