I tried to leave 0 stars but it made me check at least one. Absolutely the most unprofessional and rude manager I have ever encountered. Our waiter turned out to be just as awful. When I noticed they had charged us $11 for the $9 margarita and $7 for the $6.50 margarita, I asked them why I was charged more than the menu price. Simple question. I was told the menus were old and the prices had gone up. Then the manager proceeded to tell us that the $6.50 margarita wasn't even on the menu anymore - except for the fact that it WAS on the menu they gave us. The manager refused to correct the price, (only $2.50) she said since we drank the margaritas we had to pay for what they charged. I reluctantly gave her my card and some cash. She came back to the table and dropped the charge slip in front of me and then told me to "leave now!" Before I could sign my name she told us she was going to call the police if we didn't leave immediately. When I told her I would be happy to call the police for her, our waiter chimed in from across the room. He yelled that we were ridiculous and needed to leave immediately. So much for his tip. We fully intended to leave him one until that moment. My father recently passed away and I was taking my mother, sister, and daughter out for a nice dinner and a margarita. Things have been hard enough without having to spend an evening like this. I know it was only $2.50 but, if you pad the bill in anyway it is theft. If you give a customer an outdated menu and fail to say these prices are incorrect, you are at fault. Karla and John - their names were on our receipt -have no idea how to treat customers. We will not be back (and not because Karla told me not to ever come back). We will share our horrible experience with anyone who has ears to hear!! By the way, who serves bbq sauce with fajitas instead of sour cream and guacamole? That seemed strange. Guess we will stick with El Mariachi Loco in Star or Chapala on Overland...
Read moreSo let me just start by saying 2 Months ago I would have given this place 5 stars. My last few visits have not been good though. This is our favorite place, my mom, my dad, my boyfriend, and the kids, we all love it. Expect I’ve had the worst service the last two times I’ve gone. First one was on the patio, our server was slow getting to our table, getting our order, I waited 15 minutes for the drink I ordered and with empty hands he came up and asked if we wanted anything else or just the check. I asked him for the drink I’d ordered 15 minutes prior and our check. He brings me out the drink, iced margarita completely melted. Another 15 minutes goes by before I finally go inside to pay because he hasn’t came back for the check. Then the host goes and gets him. Another 5 minutes. Wait, it gets worse. I go in last night, service was faster this time, but really bad. We get the bottom of the bag of chips, whatever not a big deal we get new ones. Well I ordered the skinny margarita, that’s not what I got. It was the regular one. I wanted to complain but my server was too busy on his phone at the bar. So I order another one and remind him it needs to be the skinny, nope still not. The skinny ones separate when blended and are generally put in a different glass, which tells me he didn’t even bother putting my drink into the bar the way I ordered it. My boyfriends food was dry and over cooked. I couldn’t get more dressing for my salad because again the server was just on his phone. Then when I get the check I see that he up-charged the tequila in my margarita without my permission. At this point I was so upset I just gave up. Tipped him against my better judgement and left. It’s saddening because this WAS our favorite place to go. There’s two servers I’ve gotten that have been awful and two that have been amazing. I’ll try for the good ones IF I ever come back, but I work in the restaurant industry and it’s kind of a kick in the face to see servers...
Read moreWe brought a large group from work in for dinner. I called about a week in advance and reserved a private room and confirmed that we would have one. This was confirmed directly by the manager. This was one of the key reasons we chose Cafe Ole.
When we showed up, we were placed smack dab in the middle of the dining room right next to the kitchen which made it even louder. When I asked about the private room, the manager told me that "the hostess had messed up and taken another group after us". Still not sure why they got the room instead of us. He said they would try to avoid putting other people around us but they seated at least 4 tables right next to us AFTER he said that. It was incredibly loud, our team could not talk, and we lost out on part of the comradery I was seeking when I asked for and reserved the private room.
Things happen, but at the minimum I would have expected the following: A call to let me know what happened when it happened to decide if we wanted to proceed. Telling us when we got there instead of pretending like nothing happened. I had to go and find them and ask. -Ok, you screwed up....do something...anything to acknowledge the mistake. Maybe give a couple of appetizers, or dessert, a small discount or come over and apologize to the group. They did nothing other than the half hearted apology when I had to search them out.
All in all, it was really disappointed how we were treated. I have been going there for years and love their food plus have brought a lot of business. It will make me consider doing another large event...
