We stopped here for dinner after reading glowing reviews in the local Reno paper. Based on the rather over-the-top reviews, we had high expectations, but found that it was only good rather than excellent. That's still fine, because Reno doesn't have a lot of top notch Chinese restaurants, and it's certainly better than many of its peers.
The decor was very pleasant, the service was excellent, and we'd like to try some of their other dishes, so we'll probably go back. The hot & sour and egg drop soups were both very good, piping hot and tasty, although the hot & sour should have been spicier. The orange chicken pieces were much too large, especially since knives were not included on the table. We thought the breading was much too thick. We were disappointed in this dish.
The Mongolian beef was supposed to be spicy, but wasn't. I suspect the relatively few other dishes marked as spicy probably are not, and that the restaurant caters to American bland taste rather than serving the dishes as they would be prepared in China. Having spent a lot of time in Hong Kong, we have a good idea of how Chinese food should taste.
Prices were reasonable, with a bargain add-on for any dinner main course of $1 for rice and soup. Lunch was an especially good deal, with a main course, rice &...
Read moreThis place has become a regular weekend outing for me because it's close to my house, fits my current dietary needs and is pretty reasonable on the pocketbook. The sandwiches are huge and can be customized. I developed an ulcer over the summer and the the list of things that didn't upset my stomach was small, so I basically lived off of plain turkey and avocado sandwiches. I don't know what it is but sandwiches are so much tastier when someone else makes it for you.
The reason this location doesn't have five stars is because one of their cashiers has a serious attitude problem. He acts like you're asking him to go above and beyond if you have a question about the menu. Guess what, dude? As a cashier in food service, it is your job to know what is in...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted to have some coffee at a bikini cage and choose to go here. Automatically we were not allowed to sit inside so my hubby could see the girls. We were seated outside. Now since the coffee is $6 for a small cup, you obviously don't come for the coffee. I felt that perhaps we were discriminated against because either I was a women and they figure my husband wouldn't spend much ( they're right) or they just carter more to Vitmenese men. Either way we both felt like we didn't get what we...
