Cortado Coffee — Restaurant in Garden Grove

Wonderful staff greeted me with a warm welcome and made my first time here just great in every way today!

I walk by this location at night when I walk my dog and I have been meaning to stop in. Wonderful atmosphere with a young, friendly staff (oh and these co-workers are friends as I noticed others arriving to work here and the Teammates were sincerely happy to see and greet eachother) and there is calm energy to study or just relax (I’m watching movie reviews while drinking my Cortado Salted Pecan Coffee… soooo good!)…

Just as important, this place is CLEAN! I like that a lot. I really don’t ever notice the price for things when I go out for dinner or for coffee, but if the place isn’t clean, I start to think of other places to visit. This place is clean because the staff has pride in their shop and authentic caring in eachother. I mean I just get this impression. So that brings me to Ownership. The person that owns this wonderful coffee shop - Cortado really knows how to take care of people. The staff here truly enjoys being here and that has everything to do with the Leadership that runs this lovely place.

This place has minimalistic decor that’s bright and simple. They have very unique drink flavors and they offer cold brew, matcha and Einspänner, which I don’t see so often. It’s a Viennese drink that I drank every day when I was in Vienna and Europe where the top layer is a really thick whipped sweetened cream. But nowadays, it translate to any drink topped with this thick sweetened cream on any type of drink not just espresso.

I got strawberry matcha latte for myself and picked up ice pistachio latte, biscoff cookie butter latte and strawberry lemonade for the family.

The strawberry matcha latte has been the best matcha I’ve had by far. It’s nutty not grassy or bitter so you know it’s not low grade, yet it’s bold and strong. The strawberry purée was perfect. It wasn’t thick like jam or thin like syrup. It still had the pulp and when you mix it, it didn’t change the matcha taste.

I tried this place a few months back because I wanted to see how their matcha was. When I came to the business, it wasn't too crowded and there were a few groups that were studying or meeting with each other. The design of the cafe was simple modern and the business was very clean. They also had a small curated selection of beans and other merchandise for sale. Maybe as weird that I went to a coffee place for matcha, but I did try their matcha einspanner. The matcha had good flavor and the cream on top was very indulgent. I would say this is a nice dessert matcha, but the style of drink I probably wouldn't order that often. Since I tried a couple other matcha places in Garden grove, I would say this is one of the spots I would recommend people check out not just for the hangout spot, but for the drinks.
