⭐☆☆☆☆ 1/5 – Disappointing Experience at Krazy Chicken

Tonight was our first time trying Krazy Chicken, and unfortunately, it’ll likely be our last.

I ordered the chicken taco salad, and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The portion size was extremely small — I’m talking smaller than what you’d get from a basic Taco Bell salad. And while I typically enjoy sour cream, this dish was completely smothered in it — to the point that there was more sour cream than actual food. It overwhelmed the flavor (what little there was), and made for a pretty unpleasant bite overall. The presentation was equally underwhelming — just thrown together without much thought or balance.

My husband ordered the birria tacos (called quesadilla tacos on the menu), and things didn’t get better from there. First off, they were served in a foil container with a paper lid, which trapped the steam and made the tacos soggy by the time they reached the table. The meat portion was shockingly small — definitely not worth the price — especially when we compared it to local favorites like The Taco Truck or El Patron, which are both less than 3 miles away and deliver much better value and flavor.

Speaking of flavor… there was none. The birria meat was bland and lacked any real seasoning. No spice, no richness, no depth. For a dish that’s supposed to be bold and savory, this just fell flat. Add the poor presentation and the lackluster taste together, and you’ve got a very disappointing meal.

Bottom line: Based on portion size, lack of seasoning, soggy presentation, and overall food quality, I do not recommend Crazy Chicken. There are far better, more flavorful, and well-priced...

Today 5/7/25 we stopped in about 6:30 no crowd at all. We have been to several other restaurants at this location. Very nice waitress and restaurant appears very clean. Menu very extensive but kind of your typical Mexican Restaurant menu. Not a good start our chips smelled funny and had a bad taste almost like they were cooked in old oil, although the salsa was very good. We complained and the manager brought us some hot fresh chips which was better. We decided to share a plate and ordered the 3 piece chicken, it was good and the rice and beans were good with pickled vegetables and hot tortillas of your choice corn or flour. Chicken was like a rotisserie chicken with nice crust but had very little Mexican spice flavor, I was looking for the Mexican roadside chicken as I have had at other places. 5 STARS 🌟 across the board for me! I normally don’t leave reviews but this place is so GOOD OR GREAT! Everything is so flavorful it’s not just your boring everyday eat out everything tastes the same. I just wanted to share how amazing it is. It’s in gardendale next to Standard Furniture. I normally get the HAPPY PLATE 😊 AND it makes me so HAPPY LOL. Also it’s so much food it’s like 3 meals. The cheese dip and salsa is also its own. Chips are great too. If you get a chance you should DEFINITELY eat here. i hope it gets to stay around to a long time. The service is also very friendly....
