LongHorn Steakhouse — Restaurant in Gardendale

Our experience was horrible when we ate here a month or so ago. We typically love this restaurant and were excited for one to open near us. However, what we received was unattended, rude service, long waits for no reason, long wait for food, food came out seperate, had to ask repeated times for bread. Missing items that were never received. A fishy tasting water smothered our steak and was told it was "butter". We know what butter tastes and looks like, that wasn't butter. We also know what fish tastes like, I greatly dislike it! The entire plate was soaked in it. We really tried to eat it after we sat there waiting for someone to come around and see how our meal was after we had complained, no one came. My fiancé, was extremely hungry and choked itbdown better than i did. However, most of the meal went uneaten. Brought it home to see if the kids would maybe eat it, it took them one bite to pass on the opportunity.

Update 2/26/24- My daughter wanted Longhorn as a makeup dinner on Sat. 2/24 for us not being home for our normal VDay dinner we take her on. (She missed the opportunity for disappointment on the last visit and like any teen, thought we were lying). We tried to go to Outback, but they were having gas issues and their ovens were all down. We joined the wait list and were seated promptly by the manager (not a very friendly welcome, especially considering it was the Manager). We were greeted by our server and got our drink order. We ordered Spinach artichoke dip as an app. We had to ask for bread and it still took a long time to get. The app eventually came out, the chips were cold, glistening/soaked in oil and either rock hard or very chewy. The dip itself was okay, but we ran out of okay chips to eat with it, so it sat there 1/2 uneaten. We finally had to ask for our salads, we didn't want them coming out with our food. When our food came out my ribeye was extremely well done instead of medium. My daughters came out extremely rare, almost blue, ordered med rare. The rice on both their plates was undercooked and flavorless. I sent mine back, my daughter hadn't checked hers at that point, but in the end elected to just keep hers, eat the edge in hopes to try reheating it later because the server had already left and hadn't been seen for a few minutes. 10 or so minutes later, the server came and said it should be out soon, they get things like this out fast. Well, fastforward another 10 or 15 minutes and I still had no food. How long does it take to cook a thin, steak to medium on the fly? My family was finished with their meals and mine still hadn't arrived. So, I called the server over and cancelled it. I watched as she got the manager to remove my meal from our check. When she brought our check, there was no discount at all and the manager did not follow her over. However, after saying something about it and asking where the manager was and continuing to talk with her, he walked by and asked her if she was good. We sat there in amazement, even the server said she thought he was going to stop, but nope.

Overnight, my husband woke up with severe stomach cramps and such. He stayed in bed and the bathroom all day. Still suffering issues, he had to call in sick to work today (very rare occurrence. So much so, that he went to work with full blown Covid before we knew Covid was a thing, never calling in once, but getting sent home for 1 day by direct order from his district manager.)

Sunday evening, we were shopping and ran into my daughter's friend who worked there. We didn't realize he had quit, but were talking about our experience. He warned us to avoid LH at all costs, explained numerous health hazards that are allowed in order to keep costs down and shortcuts made in order to push out food, good or not. This includes "regularly using obviously expired and out of date food, especially steaks and serious cross contamination. He said sometimes, they'd cringe at the fresh veggies they clean up to serve"

So we started the night off around 545 and was told a 45 minute wait. We had a larger party 6 people and 2 highchair. Well after about 35 minutes I proceeded to the restroom where there was 2 six seater tables and room on either end for a highchair. was where rather busy but we could have clearly had plenty of room to sit. Also there was a party of 15 in front of us and I have been told at this location the only way to get on the list with a big party was everyone had to be there. So the big party was seated and about 25 minutes later they only had 8 or 9 people show. So the gentleman that was upfront was extremely nice about it and offered 2 free appetizers for our party or desert. After being there and 1 hour 20 minutes we where seated in a corner booth which was interesting as we needed 2 high chairs. Even though all this had taken place we where still having a good time after all it's peak hours on a Saturday night. We'll after being seated for 20 minutes the waitress comes and greats us and this is where it goes from good to wish we had gone to McDonalds. We automatically order our food drinks and appetizer right then. We'll about another 20 minutes go by we finally get our drinks. But even though we got them.one was wrong and we had another never show for another 15 minutes. When we asked to have one replaced be cause it was wrong it was with a different person and our waitress brought it back and had the worst attitude. We'll she started to regain our confidence when she said they burnt your appetizer so I had them remake it. We'll when she brought it out she informed us they had ran out of macaroni. That is the only side that 2 of the guest oredered and they did not want anything else. They offered box mac and cheese but that is not what they wanted. So when our food comes out my steak was well done I asked for medium rare my wife's steak was cold and barley rare my daughter law could not even cut hers it was so tuff and one so.s steak was correct but no mac an cheese and the other sons steak was almost raw the 3 kids food the grapes where mushy and tasted weird and the box macaroni and cheese was horrible so they would not eat it and the grilled cheese was burnt. We'll we get our checks and when my daughter-in-law asked why we where paying g full price for my sons meal as all he had eaten was a steak with no sides or salad why should she ha e to pay full price. They offered 10 percent off there check and gave us some more free appetizer coupons for next time. If the waitress had a better attitude she would have made bank on the tip we always tip 25 % of the bill even if the food is bad that's not her fault that would be the cooks but she even gave e attitude when asked what about the mac and cheese and she said well I took it of the check and it was still the same price as it was before. I may give this location another try i have eaten there several times before and it was great maybe just an off night but if you choose to be in the service industry you should ha e better people skills. if the costumer is always right that means my opinion counts and i think that means my opinion will leave a unremoveable mark on this place got into the place they said 30 minute wait it was maybe 5 minutes and we got set down at a table our watress she orderd our appetizer and drink she brought by our drinks and bread and butter no knife to cut the bread then she came buy and gave us our appetizer mushrooms and some napkins still no silverware the napkins where so tiny she only gave us 4 of them your drink barely fit on top of the napkin i used my hands to eat our mushrooms i was hungry but my mom dident use her hands she waited our watress paid us no mind she kept walking the other way around the restaurant trying to avoid us for 5 minutes and my mom finially seen her at the table behind us and she had to flag her down in a rush or she wouldent have came and she would have walked away and avoided us finially she went back to get our silverware after waiting 5 more minutes we got our silverware she said sorry about the wait but waiting 10 minutes or longer for silverware isn’t we should have received them with our mushrooms and we should have gotten more napkins i used most of them blowing my nose we ate our mushrooms and we waited for our steaks it had been 25 or more minutes and we haddent got our food yet we finally got out steak and it wasent even our watress that gave us the food and we got no steak sauce and i still haven’t received my macaroni the baked potato isn’t bad but it isn’t hot it’s kinda cold and the steamed broccoli isn’t hot it’s kinda luke warm like the baked potato my butter wasent melted and my moms her butter was deap down on the side of the potato not in the middle and the steak don’t even get me started it wasent even that warm either! i was gonna say the warmest thing was the macaroni but the top is hot the bowl is hot but the inside is kinda cold and my moms steak was supposed to be medium and it ain’t it’s more like medium rare a medium is light pink not red also my mr pib dident taste like pib it tasted more like waterd coke and as for the broccoli tasted like it had lemon on it who does that gross waiter gave us our check and never even asked how our food was our watress name was Brittany altho she did give us a to go cup each and for other side notes she only filled up our drinks once witch was fine for me but for normal people who drink a lot that wouldent have been ok and our total was around 60$ but what do you expect everything’s sky high now we are complete butt holes so we gave her a 1$ tip instead of...
