Went to this place last saturday with my friend and her family. She grabbed a chicken quesadilla with green sauce, rice and beans. A couple hours later she couldnt stop throwing up and had very horrible abdominal pain. We had to take her to the emergency room and the doctors told her she had food poisoning. The only thing she ate that day was the enchiladas/quesadillas. On Monday we called the restaurant over the phone asking to speak to the manager, the workers seemed reluctant to pass me to their manager and when the manager answered she was unprofessionally rude, even without me even telling her what i was calling for. When i let her know about the food poisoning she didnt even apologize, she just asked for the hospital form. 5 minutes after that call we walked into the restaurant and asked for the AGM we were on the phone with but coincidently the employees told us she stepped out. Super odd, and looked super guilty to me. But anyways, after 10 minutes of making us wait we go into her office, and discussed what happened. Off the bat she was super reluctant and defensive, asking us if we even knew the process that occurs with food poising. I blunty told her im a manager at a high status restaurant and told her the proper steps, she seemed surprised as she initially was making it seem like we are stupid for even reporting. She didnt take it seriously, as she said that if my friend had food poisoning then everyone else would have gotten sick. With that response, i let her know that cross contamination and mishandling of food exists. I asked her if the restaurant had insurance for claims as this and she told me yes, that we would expect a call but its been almost a week and no call regarding this incident. During the discussion i had with her, she stated she couldnt give us a refund because of the investigation. I asked her if all of staff had food handlers and she said they all did. I asked her if the health department were to come inspect that they would all have them and she also said yes but with the whole discussion she was defensive and never apologized neither offered to give a refund. It was the first time we stepped a foot in that place and never again will be ever be back. The unprofessionalism, guiltiness and defensiveness over a critical situation was really crazy to see. At the end, she scanned the hospital pages we brought and grabbed information from both my friend and i then told the host to give us the receipt from the day we ate. Today, i called the Health Department to make then aware of this issue and hopefully they will take incidents such as this seriously moving forward. Food poisoning is serious and can lead to extreme issues. And maybe theyll...
Read moreTheir tortillas are awesome, The Mariachis make you feel like you're in a real authentic Mexican restaurant (theres a great energy they give with their music to the place). However both of their salsas which are brought out with chips are bland, watery there is no life in that salsa. In a mexican restaurant i believe a salsa should be something that is distinguishing, their flag of pride in the Mexican cuisine business. They are in dire need of a new salsa recipe!!! On another note the dishes i have had have been very satisfying... Also, lettuce on a plate? really? why not provide a real salad along with the meal. As far as service goes, sometimes we get average and good service, other times we have actually had the wrong order brought out to us. Our waitress argued that this is what we ordered... This place can get pretty busy and some of these ladies are all over the place at times. Not to mention when the mariachis are playing it can sometimes get pretty loud, so we can understand how an order can sometimes be mistakenly taken wrong. What makes it bad is arguing with the customer over what was ordered. Especially when the table was full and the only one that heard a different order was the waitress. We have dined in cuquitas restaurants since i was a little niño, and that is our main reason for choosing to come back, the nostalgic factor one would say. However when we envite other people with us they only get the wow factor from the mariachis and the tortillas. sometimes the dishes are delicious. service is give or take. salsa ranks so low for us and since this is one of the first things people taste and judge a restaurant from, i believe this should be #1 on their need to improve list for cuquitas. we'll keep coming back and hopefully one day we will be surprised. 🤓...
Read moreWent on a Sunday at 8pm. Waited 15minutes to be seated; not gonna lie, the waitresses outfits' had me in awe. The Mariachi was an added bonus. The lady making homemade corn tortillas in open view was pretty cool too. But the food? SO DISAPPOINTING. The Menu itself is very basic and simple. I think about the only thing that I was even slightly impressed about was the " Higado Encebollado" (Liver & Onions). I ordered The Fajita Plate. They had two options: Fajitas al Carbon or Fajitas Caseras. Not sure which one I got, because the taste was so bland. It wasn't even fajita. Just some sort of beef meat, cut into pieces, with onions and bell peppers. The rice and beans were ok. My kids ordered the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla & the Beef Taco on Flour Tortilla(NOT HOMEMADE by the way). Neither ate it. Again, the meat was flavorless. My boyfriend ordered the Higado Encebollado, and that actually tasted decent however, the waitress forgot his side of rice, which she never made an effort to bring back to him. In all, for what we ordered, we paid way too much considering we didn't order alcoholic beverages! For this chain to have 3 locations, this specific location still uses (room temp) canned drinks instead of fountain drinks. We were charged $18 just for drinks alone. $2 a can! Kind of ridiculous! And when it came time to pay, I understand it's just restaurant etiquette to ask the customer how their meal was, but when the customer actually takes the time to tell you everything that was wrong, the least you can do is apologize and maybe discount a few bucks for what you didn't get (the rice) or the drinks you didn't drink (3 canned drinks). Instead, she suggested we should've returned our food and requested it to be made again ....so we could wait another 20min for it?...
